im just confused who he’s trying to appeal to here…he’s completely moved away from psych-rock sound that they built their sound on. the house-inspired stuff isn’t catching on with EDM fans, it’s just not exciting.

the post-currents stuff is just not it.

It's a solid Tame Impala album that would be very good by any other band's standards. "Borderline," "Breathe Deeper," "Lost in Yesterday," and "It Might Be Time" are all certified hits

you’re right, to follow up the first three records with that was just such a huge drop off in quality. it’s not terrible, it just has the disservice of following currents…it didn’t help that Kevin toured that record for 4yrs with the same exact show. I think a lot of us were expecting a bigger jump and it just didn’t happen.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Didnt really have the staying power for me. I liked it when it came out but I'd be lying if I said I ever had the urge to put it on over his other records these days.

It's his best record, it easily clears Currents, I think he's been getting better; the new one may end up being an overall step down in quality but I've been surprised before.

    He has just never missed.

    Slow Rush
    Lonerism
    Currents
    Innerspeaker

    Three 9s and an 8.5.

Innerspeaker isn't bad but I'm rarely in the mood for that kind of psychedelic music.

Innerspeaker is really cool but it's also just basically The Beatles Revolver worship

I am either of these depending on my mood. Slow Rush and Lonerism swap places often. B-)

    Got a light?

Agreed fully, Slow Rush was what got me into him so maybe that played a part but I just feel like there’s not really any misses and the peaks are just crazy. As for the new stuff, Dracula is still in rotation and a vibe, I don’t need to compare to old stuff in this case, the lyrics are very weak but it’s groovy and a good jam. I just hope he has some more experimental stuff outside the singles and gets weird with it, ideally a mix of the electronic stuff and the Loser vibe but just more out there

Tour practice video just dropped on Instagram, hearing New Person, Breathe Deeper, Apocalypse Dreams, Dracula...not confirming all of these songs will be played but at least we know there's going to have a full band
