Just listened to them back to back, they sound similar but different enough. And I think it sounds just like what they've waned to sound like since LN, just a rock band. When they talk about their influences, it's always the Beatles, Tom Petty, and other like minded rock and roll bands.
As a casual TBS fan, I can confirm that Adam's stage presence is extremely annoying (especially the fake accent and the whole "ladies and gentlemen" line one-hundred plus times) and the new songs they played at ToC were atrocious.
Which accent? The southern one? He was born in the south, lived there for 18ish years growing up and then moved back there like 6-7 years ago. What accent would you expect him to have?
I think for the longest time he tried to hide it which is why it comes across as phony now. I try to hide mine a lot.
I had no idea the accent was genuine. It didn't bother me as much as him repeating "ladies and gentlemen" and going on weird rants about how important his band has been throughout the years. Then again, I thought "Holy Water" sounded kinda cool so what the hell do I know?
Lol no person talks the way he did the other night. I get he is from the south so he's gonna have a twang that is especially more apparent with a bunch of New Yorkers. But it's a combination of bringing it into songs (especially on their early 2000's emo/pop punk songs) and him talking like a literal circus leader that bothered me. It's just comes off as forced, I've seen them probably 20 times over the years and this was the first time I've looked at friends like "wtf is he doing?".
When I saw them in 2011 in Charlotte, he came across as really unlikable. He was doing this weird carnival barker thing and talking in a really fake way, including when he said he could hit a kid with his mic if he wanted in an annoying southern accent. Tidal Wave is a sweet song though.
Scrolling through YouTube and saw this interview again TBS did with Mark Hoppus on his TV show. Couple great gems on here like Mark and Amy Schumer being childhood friends as well as the story of Shaun trashing a dressing room and blaming it on The Early November.
Very excited for this. Taking Back Sunday seems to get a lot of crap online. I prefer Louder Now, New Again and Happiness is to the first two albums though, so I'm probably a monster around here, heh!
Says "stay tuned" in their tweet. So maybe tracklisting, single and artwork this Friday. Who knows though.
Slightly killing me that the album artwork, track listing, and single are available in the UK but not here
it's a systems thing, they get to midnight before we do. It'll all certainly all be up for us midnight our time
