I mean, he has produced some extremely successful albums. Third Eye Blind, Songs For The Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age, and Young And The Hopeless by Good Charlotte to name a few. I think the Third Eye Blind debut and Songs For The Deaf sound great and are fantastic albums, but everything since then has definitely had issues. The drums you mentioned being the most noticeable.
Oh yeah I agree with his track record of successful albums. I attribute that to his ability to change song structures or maybe certain phrasings to help demos reach their full potential. I just meant strictly the choices he makes in sounds and tones. That being said, Third Eye Blind's debut is a great sounding record. I might have to revisit Songs for the Deaf. On "Louder Now" though, the drums and muted guitar strumming in "Miami" always make me cringe a little.
Interesting. I think this is the first instance out of 5 albums its happened. I personally think B-sides should have been left off, but that's just me. I like their B-sides, but I haven't listened to them hundreds/thousands of times as I have their official songs on the album.
I used to be a b-side obsessed person, but I honestly don't bother nowadays. So I know what you mean. Some b-sides are really good. As well, it would be a crime if we didn't include Ballad of Sal and Your Own Disaster when we get to TAYF. I'm pretty sure it happened in a couple of the blink brackets we did.
Current Scores: Spin-22 Up Against(Blackout)-2 Sleep-11 Divine Intervention-13 Miami-14 Liar(It Takes One To Know One)-10 My Blue Heaven-23 I'll Let You Live-1 Twenty-Twenty Surgery-3 What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?-21

I have no idea who wins this one. Any of Ghost, MakeDamnSure, Spin, My Blue Heaven or Brooklyn seem like they could win. I think TAYF will be real interesting too.
This album? Yikes I dunno, probably Makedamnsure or My Blue Heaven but there are too many tracks on it people love. I was talking about calling this round, I think they have clear winners.
There's only a 3 point difference between Miami and Liar, and a 4 point different between Divine Intervention and Sleep. I'll give it another hour or two.
Oh, I disagree. Miami and Liar are only a few apart. The rest are incredibly clear. But one of their worst songs is getting a lot of votes. It's a weird round.
Shit will literally come out of my belly button if My Blue Heaven doesn't take it all. And who wants to explain that to anyone?
