New Again is their worst album and it's not even close. Every 2 years or so I listen to it and hope to maybe get something out of it but with every listen I am just more sure that it's really that bad. There are 2 good songs on it and that's it.
S/T has one of the most iconic TBS songs with This Is All Now. Best Places To Be A Mom is like a trademark TBS song. Call Me In The Morning is a great closer. And all other songs on it are easily better than most songs on New Again.
Yeah, those are the 3 songs I would have called out on that record. I don't think any of them are fantastic though and the rest is pretty meh to terrible otherwise. Again, that's just my opinion though
I genuinely cannot think of a worse TBS song than You Got Me and It Doesn't Feel A Thing Like Falling imo
I don't dislike those songs but I don't think they're very good. The chorus of Faith makes me cringe too much
El Paso, Best Places and This is All Now are 3 fantastic tunes. Everything else is either forgettable at best or the worst songs in their catalog.
I liked the version of Best Places that they played live before the album came out Which isn't even the same as the version they tracked on the self titled b sides iirc
Fair enough. I just cannot imagine someone actually being a fan of the band and thinking New Again is their best album. That just does not make sense to me. New Again is the obvious outlier in their discography. And by a big margin...
I will defend Summer, Man and Swing forever. Didn't See That Coming and Long Time Comin' are also neat. New Again and S/T could both make really solid EPs
Lonely Lonely Summer Man Swing Everything Must Go Carpathia is ok I'll never listen to any of the rest, baffles me that Cut Me Up Jenny isn't a unanimous worst song
Every song on new again shits on the self titled. that album is not good. El Paso is a horrible BN song.
Does “El Paso” sound almost like it could be on that one Brand New album, uh, Daisy or whatever? Sure, but like, it’s still a solid song. And also, listening to TBS makes me happy, while listening to BN isn’t a thing I’d ever do on purpose, so.
