I was pretty surprised to see Fred on stage with Say Anything at Furnace Fest, I thought maybe he was gonna be able to give that up. Good for him if he enjoys it and it pays well, but Max sucks live. I feel bad that dudes from better bands (Fred and Brian) are playing guitar for them, I'd rather see Color Fred or Weatherbox than SA ever again.
Max sucks and I side eye anyone who is still willingly playing with him tbh. I get that Fred needs to make an income, but wooooof
Seems like John’s surgery had a big impact on his singing for the better. Just watched a bunch of Straylight clips from yesterday and that’s the best he’s sounded in a very long time
John reshared a video on IG of them playing with the caption from the person asking them to keep this lineup with him and Fred forever
And yeah John clearly is putting way more into his singing in these videos, pretty clear the neck injury was effecting his ability to belt stuff out. That being said, when we saw them in Dewey Beach last summer, he did go all out and sounded decent tbh. Probably a low pain day that day
Got a good chuckle at a comment I saw on a video with Fred and John saying the band will never be the same since Eddie left the band and him being the founder of the band. This led me to find out that Eddie and Mark’s band has a singer now
It will never not be funny that the band has still never addressed Mark leaving/getting kicked out publicly.
There’s that ongoing lawsuit that Mark brought against them. They are probably advised not to make any public comments until it is dismissed.
Marks lawyer to TBS lawyers probably: “All my client wants is for the band to release a statement saying that Mark is objectively the coolest former or current member of the band, everyone loves him, and thinks he’s like super duper duper talented”
The actual funniest part of the whole thing IMO is still the one line in the lawsuit that says that, aside from Eddie’s departure, there was little to no drama within the band at any point.
so cool seeing john back with the band and seamlessly becoming part of their new set. john, fred, and nathan's vocals sound great together. gimme an album fellas... i'm begging you! was browsing youtube this morning and stumbled onto this:
From the videos I saw - it looked like they all were having a blast and genuinely enjoying having Fred and John with them. The little jam song/intro to Make Damn Sure that they've been playing on tour makes me wonder if they have toyed with writing anything while on tour? Probably not but a guy can dream!
As much shit as they get for not being a “good” live band or sounding good, it’s definitely fun to see them all playing together and the “showmanship” they have together
i really hope they don't do another anniversary tour. i know that's what 75% of TBS fans want, but god i'm sick of hearing some of the songs off those albums live.
We're coming up on the second anniversary of 152, I'd love for them to announce they're just working on new material. Especially considering that album had almost a half year rollout too, I hope they've started cooking something up, because there is just so much potential at play now.
I think there's something in the works to acknowledge it, but I don't think it will be a full tour. I can imagine them being one of the album plays on Riot Fest (like they're doing for Slam Dunk) and maybe one or two shows in like NYC or LA. At least, I'm hoping that's the case. I understand When We Were Young is a festival kind of rooted in nostalgia, but it's wild to me that the setlist from the fest only had 3 songs written in the past two decades. I could do without My Blue Heaven being in every setlist lately. This doesn't surprise me. In that podcast they did, I think he mentioned this being an ongoing pain issue for about 3-ish years for him. That would probably really impact his ability to sing the way people wanted him to sing night after night. I think the Straylight setlist from the weekends were all John vocal songs. Impressive he was doing that and then also playing with Taking Back Sunday for three days. Good for him. I hope he's not feeling it too badly today.
