Saw them tonight in Minneapolis and they sounded great. Adam was actually trying vocally tonight and that was nice to see. Same setlist as the last couple of nights with Twenty Twenty Surgery instead of El Paso.

That’s awesome to hear. I still see TikToks of people being like “wtf is up with Adam” and like half the comments are like “I hope he gets help.” Like his stage moves haven’t been goofy for years now. Them tuning down has helped him A LOT, and goddamn its cool to see Fred playing with them again.

Fred was honestly the reason why I bought a ticket. Saw them in my hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota two months ago and Adam just sounded off and everyone seemed over it. Tonight was night and day for sure.

i am like 90% sure adam is always sober and this is just his stage presence.

Yeah, are people new to Adam's stage presence?

There’s probably a good amount of people who haven’t followed the band much in the last decade and just tuning back in with Fred rejoining for the tour. It’s probably the first time they’ve watched any live footage in a while.

Posted a clip of the end of “A Decade Under the Influence” from last night on TikTok and out come the vultures just tearing Adam apart. It’s like “Dudes, this is progress” lol

This has literally been a criticism of Adam for years if you've ever made the mistake of reading the comments on their videos. It's not new just because Fred is on this tour so other people are paying attention. They've been calling "drunk/high/fucked up, etc., etc., etc." Which, I don't know...if he's fucked up and catching the mic like that every night, good for him! I couldn't even do that sober. But also, he's said that he's sober, and there's no reason for me to doubt that nor is it any of my business if he's not?

My favorite criticism is "TBS is so bad every time I see them over the past X years." Okay, well, who is the dumb-dumb constantly spending money to go see TBS when you think they're bad every time?

Saw a comment saying that Adam sucks live and should k*** himself. Some people are psychotic. If you don’t like seeing him perform, don’t watch lol

They truly act like this is something they're being forced to watch. If you want to hear TBS sound like they do on the record, then put on the record. We have the technology!

I go to a tbs show because I enjoy the performance: Adam's dance moves and mic tricks, the stupid banter between him and John, the way it feels when a room full of other people scream that part in Cute Without the E back to the band... I don't know if it's ever once registered to me that Adam's not hitting the right notes or anything.

At a certain point, it feels like some of the criticism is coming from people who are looking for a reason to complain when they get to the show. There was a post on Reddit that mentioned something about other people in the band rolling their eyes at Adam, which feels like a wild thing for somebody to notice in an amphitheater. Like, come on now...

Yeah I saw that and it was embarassing. Music subreddits tend to attract the most unhinged fans. Being hyperbolic kinda comes with the territory when you're online and it can be fun if done playfully and tastefully, but some don't know when to stop and cross the line instead.

Yeah I feel like I heard him say in an interview recently that he’s been sober for the last couple of years (this tracks with how they went all in on those Waterloo ads in recent years). I dunno, man. People are absolutely insane for no reason on these different platforms.

I’ve never been to a TBS show where I didn’t have fun, so they have that going for them!

the vitriol towards adam's performances have gotten worse in recent years because they are constantly playing festivals / livestreams and larger amphitheaters.

they are better suited for rooms with like a 2,500 cap and the fans screaming their lungs out.

I can understand not liking how he sounds now, but the stories people are making up about his behavior on stage is reaching a bizarre level. My friend just reminded me that somebody said last summer at the Charlotte show he fell on stage and was messy and clearly wasted, and I was at that show. He tripped because one of their techs (wearing all black) had slipped onto stage to fix some wires, and Adam didn’t realize he was behind him (because he doesn’t have eyes on the back of his head), stepped back, and tripped over him. Maybe from far away it looked like he just fell over nothing? But to go online and then confidently complain about that….whew. Find a hobby (I say this like I’m not here online complaining about the complaining)

Yeah, TBS shows are as much about the vibe in the room from fans as the band on stage at this point. And that's really cool.

When I saw them last year the vibe was probably the best of any show I've been to. I think Adam sounded pretty alright but it didn't even matter lol

Every time the topic of their live shows comes up, I get bummed that I skipped out on seeing them last year for no good reason (even though I loved 152). Don’t think I’ve seen ‘em since the self-titled album cycle.

Maybe next time they come through, they’ll have the line-up I dream of, where both Fred and John are there.

FWIW I saw them a couple months before Happiness Is came out (after Adam had lost some weight) and twice during that cycle, and they sounded great all 3 times.

I think his voice would be in better shape now if they had downtuned for the 20th anniversary tour in 2019. Having to sing “Spin” in its original key or even 180 By Summer down a half-step every other night for months sounds exhausting.

Just saw a clip of them doing My Blue Heaven on this tour and noticed that Fred and Adam are going back-and-forth during the chorus. Thought that was kinda cool

Cool of Justin to give Fred a shout out for being a good person because by all accounts I’ve heard, Justin is also a very nice person.

Wish I could have run into Justin last night lol also I love TBS so so much (hence why I’m on this thread), but Coheed fucking destroyed last night. TBS feels like a band in a transition while Coheed was just a well-oiled machine since their lineup hasn’t changed in 13 years but most of the crowd last night was there for Coheed, or at least that’s what it felt like to me. I was there for both, especially to see Fred in the fold in case he doesn’t rejoin them after this tour. Coheed was just an amazing bonus and now I’m an even bigger Coheed fan.

Also while John is great, Fred is twice the showman that John is. John stands in place while Fred makes an effort to move around and solo and get the crowd involved.
