It still amazes me that, how any time something comes up in the reddit about Mark, a bunch of his friends come out of the woodwork to “answer questions” and defend him. They always seem to know exactly when things are posted about him because it’s almost immediate every time, and it only makes it worse than it actually is. If they never interacted with any of it, then people would eventually move on—and the timing of it is particularly weird this time around, like they don’t want people to be excited about the summer tour. The lawsuit has been online since April, and the other thing was from the end of June/July. This claim that Fred and Mark buried the hatchet is interesting to me considering what we’ve heard about Mark’s feelings about Fred in the past. Maybe they actually did ask him to sing for ME the band. Didn’t Lenny say he had some gossip about that band he wanted to wait to share?
Yeah notice how Mark’s “friends” always say that everyone is against Mark and Mark has never done anything wrong? That “friend” also said the cop smelled marijuana but it was actually a Newport cigarette but then slipped up and said he was arrested for having a prescription medication. Lol
I’ll grant that they could have searched the car for smelling the marijuana and then found a prescription pill during that search. That makes sense to me, but what really made me laugh was the comment about cops seeing somebody who “looks like Mark” and having it out for him as if Mark doesn’t look like 70% of cops in New York.
I don’t think it gets mentioned enough when people talk about important emo albums. Listening to it now and it is a 10/10.
I think "Set Phasers to Stun" has some of their best lyrics ever. The whole "we paint our sins on the ceiling" part is gold! Or maybe I jus like the melody. Either way, it's a fun one!
The bridge is definitely one of my favorite bridges of the band's. Probably between that, "What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?", "Flicker, Fade", and "You Can't Look Back."
It’s easily at the top of the list when I think of albums that defined me. Such a good successor to TAYF.
They always killed at writing bridges. The three you mentioned are great, gotta add 180 and Cute to the list too
WYWTB being 21 years old is throwing me for a loop. I liked it a lot at first but less than TAYF; over time it's become my favorite of theirs, the perfect combination of their songwriting and a level of polish that wasn't there on their debut. The singles are all stacked on the front half of the album but it's the back half that really sets it apart. Slowdance on the Inside is still their best closer
I remember exactly where I was when I first listened to it (and I didn’t like it that much haha). Fast forward a month later and it was one of my favorite albums.
180, Number 5, Little Devotional and Slowdance is such a great lineup of songs to end an album on. Agreed that Slowdance is their best closer although Everything Must Go is a close 2nd
I’m gonna come in with a hot take here but because of Orensanz, Fazzi is the definitive vocal on songs like 180. Live, Fazzi sounds better then Fred. I’d actually be more stoked to see them with Fazzi back as they’d sound much better.
Not a hot take at all. Fazzi is pound for pound the best singer they’ve ever had, and also his live performance/stage presence was the best as well. The only thing he didn’t really do vocally were screams.
He was the touring guitarist when I saw the Movielife and he was the most fun to watch. I didn't realize he was Fazzi.
Fazzi is a great musician that was held back a lot in TBS. Would’ve loved to see one more album with him, assuming the working environment would’ve been better this time. Would love to get new music from him in general. I’m not sure he’s even released anything since the Rare Futures album and that’s from 2016.
