Man. I have seen TBS two times in my life.. Once in 2007 on Projekt Revolution with Fred and again in Warped Tour 2012 when John and Shaun came back... This all makes me so happy.
I went to the Philly show last year at The Fillmore which is about 2500 cap, and the place was almost totally sold out.
Going back to that Fred announcement video, I’m curious as to what stipulations Fred had for doing this. If I had to guess, I’d say they were tuning a whole step down and keeping him away from their legal issues with Mark.
Or maybe he gets to pick a certain percentage of the setlist.. edit: what if it was that Mark couldn’t be involved. Wasn’t there some real bad blood there?
I would be on board with Fred picking half the setlist but only if he managed to do something other than the usual 18 songs they play. I wonder if it had something to do with which guitar parts he would be playing? I think Nathan actually plays a fair amount of what Fred would have been responsible for on the albums (the guitar part in Liar, for example—which Fred handled on Thursday). But also I can imagine there was something about the pay, too. Lenny mentioned he wanted more than what he would get with Say Anything. edit: it was actually that they had to spend time practicing and no time thinking about what to cook
Plot twist: they paid him for the shows but he already spent it on recording for his new band and has no recollection of it. The thing about this lawsuit (and all Mark’s pals on reddit stoking the flames now and back in the winter) is that it’s all only Mark’s perspective of things, and after witnessing what happened during the winter, it seems unlikely that he is a reliable narrator in this. The band hasn’t said anything (and likely never will). I imagine that initially was for Mark and his family’s privacy reasons, as it looks like they were going through it and it wasn’t their place to say anything about that, but now it’s probably also for the legal implications too.
They should just pay him for the shows, try to officially cut ties with him financially, and get on with this reunion. Imagine an album with all three of them singing and the guitars would be so sick
Not funny, but reddit says mark charged with possession and dwi and has an article screenshot with it.... Edit: looks to be the end of June... Mark Francis O'Connell, 44, Long Beach, New York
I just received eight likes in 24 hours on a Taking Back Sunday T-shirt that I’m selling on Depop. It’s crazy how everything correlates when something is trending!
It’s funny when you see this immediately after reading the legal document where it says Mark has been sober for 2 years like a dozen times.
So pace the stairs to your favorite dive bar like its where you want to be Damn, 21 years. Still holds up way better than most things from 2004.
