Good guy, but a bad dude

God damn. I remember Adam tweeting out the best places to be a mom demo. I also remember endlessly replaying their studio videos to hear clips. And John Nolan’s crispin glover impression lmao

Maybe someone has been helping them overhaul their live sound in rehearsal to try and repair their tattered reputation as a live act

Would be cool if that guy had a YouTube channel.

initially it was framed as a contest that would have fans voting on the top 3, but that idea was scrapped. There are also no lyrics so the singer would have to come up with those (but this was not immediately clear the last time I looked—it was clarified in an Instagram comment), and the terms of the contest are a huge red flag to me. (Also it doesn’t clarify if the winner would have to pay for their own transportation or lodging, but I suspect the answer is yes).

When you need to hold an open audition because nobody wants to work with you. Good for them.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

Still firmly believe that its their worst despite some excellent songs on there.

Hope that whatever singer(s) get chosen write better lyrics than Mark's. Can't be that hard, though.

back in the day I was in an punk/pop-punk/emo cover band and we played everything a full step down. I specifically remember TBS songs sounding great in that tuning. They sounded heavier and less poppy.

Error: Operator came on my gym shuffle playlist over the weekend and I had to rewind it 2 times. Such a killer song.

quintessential is how I would describe it. It just does everything that band does well.

boy this sure is something - I sincerely hope someone submits themselves singing the Don't Know Why I'm Better Than You lyrics over this music.

Oh, I just watched a couple of those Rockville videos out of curiosity. They sound very distinctly better.

I am legit starting to worry about John's voice. His mic is really hot in this mix, and I love the dude but some spots in this are really rough.

Yeah for all the shit that Adam gets, I feel like John's vocals have been the weakest part of TBS's live show for years. I know he has some Straylight shows lined up this year, I honestly don't know how he's gonna handle main vocals.

I know the rumor is that Fred is gonna fill in while John takes some time off for personal matters. My first thought was maybe he needs surgery to remove polyps or nodules on his vocal cords.

  18. i like this band on record, but i hate them live. it's like 2 totally different bands haha. adam's on-stage persona and vocals mixed with john's vocals is all just nails on a chalk board for me.

Yeah he’s for sure got something wrong with his voice. The strain he is doing to get to even some of the lower parts is obvious and hard to watch

Maybe John Nolan can still be on the geetar but not on the singing anymore.

That's exactly what I thought. His voice right now is reminding me of how Matt Skiba's was before he got vocal surgery. I was figuring either that or shoulder surgery because he's been wearing his guitar strap on his other shoulder for a long while now. Whatever it is, I just want John to feel better and/or recover this summer.

Funny thing is Nathan actually has a pretty good singing voice and they barely utilize it.

Go back to the 3 guitar set up with Fred taking over those WYWTB/LN 2nd vocals, keep everything a full step down for Adam's range, and this band will be the most solid they've been live since the Fazzi era.

  25. I wish TBS was pre-meltown Mark, Eddie, Fazzi, Rubano, and Fred.

As long as Mark let Fred and Fazzi just do their thing, I think that would be a solid band on record AND live.
