"I'll Let You Live" is awesome. It's always sounded like the sonic equivalent of Godzilla rampaging a city, just lurching and devastating.
Lead singles ranked: 1. MakeDamnSure 2. A Decade Under the Influence 3. Flicker, Fade 4. Great Romances of the 20th Century 5. Sink Into Me 6. Faith (When I Let You Down) 7. Tidal Wave 8. The One
If we’re taking about how a lead single is supposed to function (getting people hyped for the album), it’s gotta be MDS. Great song and it was huge. After hearing that, the three month wait or whatever it was to the album release felt like forever.
I totally forgot Faith was a single. That’s a rough one. Especially when Best Places To Be A Mom was right there. I always forget that The One was the lead off for 152 and not S’old. Both good songs, but S’old is a true banger.
A Decade Under the Influence MakeDamnSure Sink Into Me the rest of 'em. Not a strong singles band. not exactly a strong albums band, either
I remember MDS was performed live before releasing as a single in March, so technically only a month wait. Depending on how you heard it first though, three months can still be accurate.
1) a decade under the influence 2) make damn sure 3) sink into me 4) great romances of the 20th century 5) flicker fade 6) tidal wave 7) faith 8) the one
Does not appear to be a Straylight Run thread, so I’ll post this here. The Needles The Space is 18 today. Which feels weird.
Oh we’re ranking lead singles?? A Decade Under the Influence Great Romances of the 20th Century Sink Into Me MakeDamnSure Tidal Wave Flicker, Fade Faith (When I Let You Down) The One
There was a time back when the album was coming out that the Canadian station 89X (RIP) was really pushing that song. At the time I wasn't even into the band remember all the promos for it. Weird.
1) a decade under the influence 2) makedamnsure 3) flicker fade 4) great romances of the 20th century 5) Faith 6) tidal wave 7) sink into me 8) the one ...weird to think the Cute Without the E wasn't the lead single for Tell All Your Friends, that would be number 1 for me
I really hope/wish we get some new songs to continue building on 152 this year. I feel like the inevitable 20 year Louder Now tour is gonna happen next year and while I'm certain it will be fun, I would love for them to keep the new music momentum going. The thought of it being another 2 years away is depressing.
