I can imagine after the weirdness of this winter, they didn't want to go through the process of auditioning somebody else for that role if they already know Mitch gels with them as people and does a passable job (and has had a lot more time to practice since last time he played with them, since they made it seem like he was a last minute fill-in over the summer)
