Ughhhh. The OR date is at McMenamin's Edgefield, which is an amphitheater. I saw them open for Third Eye Blind there a few years back and waited in line for merch while they played, cause they sounded terrible. In hindsight, i don't even know why i purchased their tour shirt there. TEB made up for it, but yeah definitely skipping this since it's outdoors.
Mitch Register (their touring drummer) reposted the tour announcement so I assume that means he’ll be continuing with them for the foreseeable future
Well he doesn’t constantly look pissed behind the drum kit like Mark so there’s that. I like his style, he really seems to enjoy playing with them.
For a start his name has one more letter than Mark and the remaining members, so that’s already a significant change
I think he did a fairly good job if he had to learn all those songs in a short amount of time (plus the entirety of TAYF and then the slightly deeper cuts he learned for the holiday shows). Hard to compare somebody who helped write the songs and has been playing them for 25 years to a guy who probably had a couple weeks notice to learn a whole setlist worth of them.
Mark is a great player. Just always hits hard as hell and gave them a real backbone. No opinions on the temp guy.
Just spun 152 for the first time in a couple months, and, yeah, it's real good. Still bummed it's only 31 mins!
Personally think the length is perfect and that attributes to how great it is. Absolutely no fluff or filler.
Why do I picture him starting a show with Liar's intro, waiting for the rest of the band to hop on stage... except no one else does and he ends up stuck on a loop
I'm curious how they'll be spending the time from their last show in mid-December to this tour in mid-August. Eight months is kind of an unusually long amount of empty space for this band, with the exception of the Covid years. They only have a few one-off shows during this time. Wonder if they'll start working on the next batch of songs (with Fred!?!?).
They’re going to sit and listen to Mark’s new solo album, learn it and then tour the album front to back.
I wonder if they've got stuff planned for the UK when they go over to do that fest there? Or they're just taking some time to rest up after a relatively extensive 2024? Honestly I'm surprised they're doing any kind of tour this year and not just doing a bunch of fest performances (I think this Coheed one takes them out of doing Riot Fest?)
