It's not widely known, but you can, in fact, turn off your phone/computer and disconnect from the internet and be unreachable if you wish.
Adam is making the right move IMO especially because of the current state of the internet- and also other notable musicians seemingly being radicalized into alt right cancel culture posting that no one wants to see. Or becoming Max Bemis whatever his deal is
Yeah in my opinion the best and also the most funniest option and possibly the correct way to handle this is to not make any statements whatsoever
99.9% of TBS fans have no idea what’s even going on, nor probably even realized Mark hasn’t been with the band the past year. It wouldn’t shock me at all if they don’t address this.
Granted we don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but he really does seem to prioritize just being around his family when he's not on tour and making the most of that time. His wife posts from time to time, and they're almost always out doing things with their family and friends. Shaun is even less online; him promoting the whiskey from his account was the first post from him in a long time, I think.
If we're talking about online presence, I think I recall John Nolan having an alright online presence. I prefer that or not being online at all, not this homophobic hater shit that Mark's camp seemingly has/had (seriously, it's not 2002 anymore! Grow up!). I do wish Mark the best, but if he truly surrounds himself with people like that, or is even more conservative than I bargained for, than I don't want him to have a platform, let alone be in historically one of my favorite bands. I recognize what he's done with the music in past albums, but a band can grow beyond its original members and be something better. Taking Back Sunday is kind of the defining example of this. I'm not here to jack off specific original members of the band, I'm here for good music and good people. If Mark, or anyone else, are here for anything less, well I just ain't here for that.
John shit posts. It's fascinating. And then he tells people to fuck off when they deserve it. (Or at least, when I was on Twitter that's how it was but I'm not really on social media apart from mindlessly scrolling instagram these days)
i think that "both before and after the drugs" line is the best thing he's ever written and with a great delivery to match.
Who is this woman? What’s weird is, I saw this name either here or on Reddit and I checked to see if Mark was following her and he was, but then the next day when shit really hit the fan he wasn’t but now he is again (she’s in the comments today)
Her instagram was also private but isn't today (or wasn't, for a brief moment in time).Feels weird Edit: She's in the comments, and I feel like he maybe reposted something of hers in his story? Aaaand weird to go through her profile and see she was seeing tbs during the summer for possibly the 39th time?
We’ve all known this for a while now, but it’s still weird to see it official. I kind of thought Mark was always going to be in the band (thought the same about Eddie too though).
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it was crazy they didn’t release Summer, Man as a single or that Swing didn’t become a set staple. I also remember that video of fans coming of the tour bus praising Swing. It’s still my favorite from NA today.
Reeeeally surprised that Swing didn't become a set staple too. That's the perfect song to headbang too live. I'm also surprised that One-Eighty by Summer isn't a set staple.
180 was a staple for the longest time. It’s weird seeing it off occasionally. It’s still their best song.
I also wish they’d close with Decade or something else instead of MakeDamnSure. Nothing against MDS. Great song, but it doesn’t have closer energy. That’s a mid set song.
When they did the coin flip shows and ended the wywtb set with slowdance as it is on the record…incredible set closer too. I know why makedamnsure is at the end (because it’s the one people want to hear), but I think even if they want to play the same songs they could stand to shake up the order a little. S’old has been a fun set opener, at least.
I think it’s just vocally taxing on them? But it’s crazy that where you want to be just gets knocked down to decade and set phasers (and not even always!) especially after the crowd got them to play photograph that one time.
Unrelated to the drama in this thread but….The Fray were the opener opener of that show? I definitely regret not driving out to it
