mark went on a weird social media firestorm last week, calling adam out by name, and now we want the band to just issue a completely fake "we wish mark the best" kind of post, so, what we can feel better about it? lol

its very clear there is bad blood, so, best just move on.

Yeah I dont see why they would need to make a statement. If anything it seems like their radio silence has been in an effort to take the high road and protect Mark.
I was just watching an interview TBS did at When We Were Young in October, which was like 6 months after Mark left, and they were still talking kindly about him. From the outside looking in I get the sense that they still care for the dude but his addiction issues were causing problems for the business. They'd probably rather not air out his dirty laundry to the world.

Wasn’t Eddie supposed to comeback to TBS when he originally left?

    Things have changed.

Exactly. So him showing back up again is pretty weird.

Any word from TBS would just be redundant, doubt they fake any good sentiment after all his shit talking the past week lol

IIRC they said that Eddie would be welcome back any time whenever he’s ready, but something broke down somewhere along the way that made it so that may never actually happen

  7. This mayyyy still be my favorite TBS lineup/performance from them.

It's so nuts hearing Adam talk in his normal voice in the in-between bits

it’s my favorite TBS anything. I’m a fazzi head though. I LOVE his voice on this album

Eleven and Summer Stars were the best ones from that demo IMO

  11. Fazzi forever. Happy Body Slow Brain was sooo underrated. I was pleasantly surprised to see he's been playing in Rx Bandits, when I saw them last year.

I'm currently listening to New Again. We don't have to repeat the NA discourse again, but I just want to point out it was a huge mistake not making Summer Man a single with a big push. Everything about that song from the production to the Beach Boy esque harmonies at points....it just screams radio single.

I've thought this. especially with the album's early summer release. It would've been great for a late summer single. Instead they played....Where My Mouth is on that Alexa Chung show Fuse tried to do. Feelings about the record aside, it feels like Warner kind of fumbled this one a little bit too.

I find it so weird how willing to reconnect all these ex-members are. Maybe behind the scenes they are friendlier with one another than I’d imagine, but man, if I were in Eddie’s shoes the last thing I’d want to do is reconnect with Mark or anyone else in TBS if I felt like they did me dirty the way he has made it out to be. Ghosted for years but now Mark is out too and needs a hand so you got him? idk man that’s more mature than I’d be in the same situation I guess.

Absolutely. There were so many decisions Warner made that were complete eye rolls. It really was the case for A LOT of those scene bands at the time (thinking specifically about Armor for Sleep). These major labels just saw the dollar signs that this scene were making and they just wanted to get in on it, without really understanding what made them appealing to their audiences in the first place.

In regards to New Again they really dropped the ball by 1) not pushing Summer Man as the lead single, 2) Not letting Fazzi sing more on the album because "he doesnt have a rock voice," and 3) Pushing them to work with Paul McCartney's producer on the album.

Considering everything about Eddie's behavior since leaving, it feels a little less like "needs a hand" and more like "this could benefit me." I'm sorry for assuming the worst of somebody, but Eddie's tried and failed a few times to get new bands off the ground, has reconnected with Fred enough to do a brief run of dates with him whatever band he tried to launch at the time, and is now buddy-buddy with Mark and getting involved with all of the dramatic posts from this weekend about "making music with an old friend." I don't think it's necessarily...mature.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

They were such a tight live unit during this time. Even if Adam’s vocals weren’t always the best, the rest of the band still gave it 110% every time.

To that last point, I've heard a lot from different people that they wanted to leave to find a different producer and were basically told they had no choice if they wanted to keep working on the songs they'd been working on. I know the bonus DVD that came with the album talked a lot about some songs going through huge changes, and I've always been curious about what their version would've sounded like. I think a lot of this is what Adam means when he talks about not being happy with the way it sounds.

I remember either Shaun or Mark saying something about Warner wanting to do a TAYF double-album when they were working on self-titled (which, incidentally, coincides timeline-wise I think with when the Maine basically left Warner to do Pioneer)

That doesn't surprise me at all. I remember there was chatter during the Louder Now era that Warner wanted them to re-record TAYF with Fred's vocals.

On that note, I say we get New Again (TBS's Version).

Summer, Man would have been a great single.

Not sure why Swing wasn't promoted to all hell either. I specifically remember prior to the album coming out they did a video where they were bringing fans onto buses and letting them get a sneak peek of the album and everybody was praising Swing.

Both of those songs should have been WAY bigger than they were.

Oh so I'm not the only one who remembers this! I swore I heard something similar back in the day (edit: about Fred's vocals on a TAYF recording), but couldn't turn anything up last time I looked and felt a little like I was going crazy and just remembering something that never happened.

Agreed 100%. Those two songs would’ve been huge for them with better production & the right promotion. Fazzi himself said that he was trying to bring some Fred-inspired guitar work to the band with that lead guitar part in Swing.
