Ed is a LOT of drama and a lot of bitterness. He may be putting on a conciliatory tone now or acting like he's above the petty drama, but I've seen his freakouts first hand. I remember when Fate's Got a Driver played a show with The Color Fred and only about 15 people showed up, he threw a really ugly tantrum that forever sullied my opinion of him. I also don't believe he's really sober but that's beside the point
Eh, I don't care if people believe in ghosts and spirits. Those are very common beliefs among the religious
Eddie is on record saying that the band paid for his first attempt at rehab, and there was definitely a lot of back and forth in terms of him being on and off tour with them before they finally parted ways. Despite that, he likes to point a lot of fingers, and say things about them leaving him behind and abandoning him, etc. I think he still hasn’t fully accepted his own role in whatever happened behind the scenes there, and spending his time posting things on their subreddit kiiiiiinda proves that point in my opinion
I’ll have to dig out my photo op with Adam, Eddie, and Mark from a meet and greet in 2005 where Mark actually has his face resting in the palm of his hand while looking away from the camera. Couldn’t have been more hospitable to his fans trekking to Long Island to see them open for Weezer. No clue where Fred and Matt were for that specific event since they did perform with the rest of the guys later that night, but Eddie was the only one on that specific day putting in any real effort to make it feel like it was worth the time driving out to some random spot in Long Island way before the show started and waiting in line specifically just to meet them. I later met Fred in 2007 the day Bend to Break was released and he couldn’t have been nicer. Also, seemed terrified from the lack of people at the show since this was only months after leaving TBS and being on the Projekt Revolution tour. He had an “I made a huge mistake” look on him throughout the night based on the crowd size.
For real. Shout out to the OG Nightmare of You lineup. I’m not someone who seeks out meeting bands but those guys were super cool. Brandon was a sweetheart.
I did enjoy Bend to Break and still largely do, but I remember it receiving a lot of criticism when it was released. Much of the backlash stemmed from comparisons to other former members who had left and started creating music that was seen as more innovative and diverse.
as a person who works with addicts, avoiding responsibility and pointing the finger is pretty par for the coarse unfortunately
Was that the Weezer/Taking Back Sunday/The Fray show at Nassau Coliseum in 2005? That was a great show! But yeah I've met the band multiple times, and each time Mark was the coldest of the bunch. Fred and Rubano were always the most friendly. There were points I'd talk to them and it felt like they'd let me talk their ear off for hours if I didn't walk away. I definitely felt bad for Fred when Bend to Break came out. No one expected it to be as big as TBS, but the lack of interest by everyone was surprising. And then Terrible Things was arguably one of his best works, put out on a major label with the added of star power of Josh and Andy, and it performed even worse. I'm sure he has regrets about how he exited TBS.
It was an enjoyable record. Certainly wasn’t aiming to be anything daring like The Needles the Space and it was funny he’d tour with Straylight Run soon after. Now speaking of Fred and Straylight Run, when is Will Noon going to join TBS for a Breaking Pangaea reunion? They’ve got drums to fill.
