They are very active on X/Twitter and tend to answer people there. Could be a great place to start. So sorry to hear about your loss.
Alright I will definitely go this route and see what happens. Maybe reach out to Starland through social at the same time too. Thank you to every one who responded to my post. I have so much love for this community.
Been a minute since I’ve engaged with this thread but wow, I’m so sorry for your loss, Murph. I hope you're doing a little better today and have been able to contact someone in the TBS camp on this.
Just saw that Mark posted on his IG for the first time in a long time, but it looks like he’s working on new music of his own.
Yeahhh the first thing I thought was it's a bad sign for his future with TBS. It could also mean absolutely nothing. We'll see.
Yeah I didn’t wanna assume anything off the bat. Could be some stuff he brought to the 152 sessions that didn’t fit the vibe of the record. Just hope he’s doing alright and glad that he’s still creating music.
Thank you, Rob. Had the service on Tuesday so I had to give a Best Man Speech/Eulogy since he was getting married in October. That was rough, but overall hanging in there. It's just been non-stop for almost two weeks now so haven't had time to dwell on things. I was unfortunately rebuffed this past week with another band in the scene for a personal memorial I was hoping to make for my buddy so that was discouraging, but you've just given me the motivation to reach out right now to TBS since I can't sleep. Fingers crossed. Edit: Thanks again for the push. Message sent. We'll see what happens.
Yeah, they stayed afloat but they aren’t putting out their best or even inspired music. They’re on the back 9 of their career. Some bands get better with age. They peaked over a decade ago. Being real about their current status is hardly “giving them shit”.
152 is easily one of their best records. I think a lot of people here would agree with that at this point. Best album since LN.
nowww im close enouuuugh to reach you allll the wallls that I could see through still the word that I can't say go on and on and on and on
I didn’t mind the record. There were some solid tracks. It may be true that people who are fans of theres feel that way but LN was leagues above 152. Again, that was over a decade ago. I don’t have a problem with them but they’re past their prime.
152 is so good and I think it will become the future of TBS. Tidal Wave rules. I like the Americana style, but some of Adam’s vocal takes are too much on this album. Happiness Is is underrated. Self-titled is alright. Pretty lackluster across the board compared to its follow up and predecessor. New Again holds up well for me. More songs from this album should be played live…Carpathia, Catholic Knees, EMG, Swing… Louder Now….them at their peak. Wild time to be a TBS fan. WYWTB….the quintessential TBS album for me. TAYF….I can’t even listen to this album anymore haha. If had to choose two albums for someone to check out from these guys….its WYWTB and 152.
I am really happy that the narrative around WYWTB has changed. Felt like around release and a bit after it was constantly held as their worst and such a step down from TAYF. My favorite of theirs since release, love that album.
Idk about your whole post, personally, but I’m 100% all in on this part. Feel like WYWTB is the best version of TBS as a band of young dudes, and 152 is the best version of them as old dudes.
Before 152, I was confident TBS could never make an interesting album again and they'd be forever stuck as a nostalgia project. Easily the biggest surprise in their entire discography. It's a home run.
I really hope they hear and feel (and financially are benefitting from) all the love for 152 Not sure how sales are but I was pleasantly surprised by how much more energy and passion was in the new songs when they played them on the most recent tour. They all sounded the best on the new stuff. Im just already looking forward to new music from them again and it hasn't felt like this since WYWTB for me.
