Oh yeah, what thread was this again? Lol I came to see if there was any discussion on the new album. It's now occuring to me that there miht be a separate thread tho. Will look now. But, in short, i love a few songs, and this isn't a terrible record, just kinda samey for much of it (particularly the middle tracks). But don't tell the band. I adore them and wouldn't want to break their spirits. Plus, the ones i love, i really love. Well, mostly S'old.
I wish that song had been released on a proper album. It’s out of sight out of mind for me, unfortunately. But every time I get reminded of it, I listen to it again, and yeah it’s a real toe tappin, finger snapper.
this one should've been released as a single, soo good, hits hard, classic TBS style. wish they played it live too
they played it last year a few times. The only time I’ve ever seen them play it was with John on lead vocals during the Spencer Chamberlin tour.
That tour with Spencer and John singing leads had a great setlist. Very WYWTB heavy (think they played Number Five AND Bonus Mosh). I remember it being really fun but I can't recall how either John or Spencer sounded. The crowd was so loud that their vocals just got lost in the noise. Honestly, that's every TBS show I've seen lol
Until yesterday TBS was probably my biggest blind spot in this entire genre - I had never heard a full album and only really knew Cute Without the E and MakeDamnSure. I just finally finished going through their discography and I'm shocked I waited this long, I really enjoyed it. Definitely think the first four albums are better than the second four but I didn't really think any were BAD on first listen. I'd consider myself a fan now, I could see myself returning to them a lot Now my only other huge emo blind spot I can think of is Thursday lol
I like the idea of someone without preconceived notions or history coming into the band and including New Again in the stronger half of their discography. The other implication that 152 is in the lesser half is a bummer, though. When my TBS listening gets an uptick in the spring, I really think that’s gonna remain my top listening preference.
I remember that tour, The Colour Revolt and The New Regime (Ilan Rubin's band) opened at my date. So good.
Haha hey I am very familiar with most of their peers!! I didn’t really feel strongly about New Again one way or the other. Definitely didn’t think it was as good as the three preceding it but I might put it above the self titled and Tidal Wave. 152 was alright, I feel like it’s going to be more of a grower for me. The way I get into artists for the first time is just listening through each album in a row and then taking the time to dive back into them individually once I have a sense of the full picture of the discography
