TAYF Louder Now WYWTB TBS/HI Tidal New Again Haven't listened to Tidal in a long time so I'll revisit
i refuse to rank but the albums by this band that i can put on at any time and emotionally rock out the whole way through are: where you want to be, louder now, happiness is, and tidal wave the others all have their flaws
this is just my guess out of boredom but: 1. pill happy 2. s'old 3. you're the one 4. run this way 5. ? 6. ? 7. light palms 8. ? 9. ? 10. questionable man
1. Pill happy/happy pills 2. S’old 3. The one 4. Left running 5. I’m the one you’re thinking about 6. No mystery 7. Light hands 8. Music everyday 9. Drink and a Two way mirror 10. Questionable man
Love how they just casually hinted at a track list for their first album in 7 years at 745 pm on a Monday.
10 tracks is bold. Especially after this long. They’ve been 11 since WYWTB, except for tidal wave at 12. Trying to think of the last 10 tracker released (from the scene). I know there was a recent one, but it’s escaping me.
I’m fine with ten tracks. There’s a lot more albums released with ten tracks nowadays and I’ll take quality over quantity. Hell Yellowcard’s new EP is five fantastic songs and I’ll take that over most bands bloated 12-13 song album with a third of those being filler songs.
Jimmy’s Surviving is a ten track album. Which was four years ago, but it sure doesn’t feel four years ago haha
I get the no-filler mindset of 10 track albums but I can name very few 10-11 track albums that don’t still have 1-2 skips regardless and there are way too many excellent B sides out there. Just gimme the extra 2-3 songs and if there’s an extra skip in there it’s still worth it to me. I struggle to rank the middle albums below but that’s my general framework: HI/WYWTB NA/TW/LN TAYF S/T
Yeah, the whole quality over quantity argument in a very subjective creative field feels like a logical fallacy to me. There are definitely limits I feel for how long an album can be without getting tedious, but I think a healthy number of songs gives a band or artist room for left field ventures.
