I’m definitely in the minority here but the new song was just fine. Not bad. Not good. Just another mid tempo rock song.
interested to know what their plans are, now that its very obvious new stuff is coming *soon*. assuming there is no formal album announcement today and their tour starting next week, waiting until august or september for an album announcement in early 2024? i guess we've waited this long...
It’s fine, I suppose. Feels like a safe bet. Still think it’s odd they are headlining Sad Summer. Not sure where they fit in the touring landscape anymore. Feel like they are better suited to tour with Dashboard and Andrew McMahon rather than that type of show. Honestly them dropping most of TAYF would make for a better set I feel.
decent song, I'm not blown away or anything. I was hoping for something more in line with Death Wolf personally.
"We’ve been waiting a long time to share this song and we’re so excited that we finally can. We hope you love it as much as we do." Wonder if they were dealing with Eddie legal or finding a new label. Either way, hopefully they have the entire album done and ready for fall. New song is a "wait and see" for me. Nothing grabbed me in the first few spins but I don't mind it all either
I was hoping for heavier, but I can dig it. I'm 1000% here for John getting way more lead vocal moments. Comparisons to other bands aside, I think this kind of style is best if they want to make any kind of attempt to make it back to the radio/"modern rock" (or whatever the hell the right word is) playlist landscape. Also after the music video ended, it took me directly into the Great Romances of the 20th Century video, insert the Private Ryan aging meme here. I realize I'm a few pages late, but anyone who didn't get into Straylight Run should at least listen to the closer on TNTS, "The First of the Century", because it is amazing.
eddie has spoken publicly about how much he misses being in the band and commented on the song announcement on IG that it sounded great. i doubt this is the reason.
I feel like this is 100% the best, perfect approach for a middle aged Taking Back Sunday to take in 2023. It leans into all of their strengths in just the right way for where they’re at right now, imo. Hopefully the full album feels similarly just right, more than their past few have for me.
I feel like people said similar things about the tidal wave single. Saying it sounded like against me and I just really didn’t hear it and I don’t hear the killers comparison now lol
Damn, seems like we’re in the minority here not loving the sound of this one at all. I know they’ll never go back to the Louder Now sound, especially with Adam’s vocal ability these days, but this is just boring to me.
