I like the first Straylight Run album a lot, but the rest of it plus his solo work has not gripped me
Agreed. That first Straylight was really good, but I couldn't get into TNTS or anything he did apart from TBS after that
I loved all of Straylight’s material. His first solo album is good. Then I never really checked out the rest for various reasons.
the debut Straylight album is one of my all time favorite albums. quintessential fall album. nothing else from their catalog ever did anything for me aside from mildly enjoying a few tracks off TNTS. the original demo version of A Slow Descent is one of my favorite songs though.
Oh wait I love Height. John’s song “I Won’t Ever Be There” means so much to me personally, but that’s on religious trauma so I *really* connected to that song in a way that a lot of people won’t lol
John's solo albums are honestly full of great stuff. Height is classic, at least half the tracks there are extremely good. Sad Strange, Beautiful Dream is solid overall but probably my least fav. Abendigo goes fucking HARD, some of the best rock music from him in any of his bands
squidward looking out the window at spongebob and patrick meme where i am squidward and yall are spongebob and patrick because im 34 years old and decently tech savvy and have no fuckin idea where to even begin with a vpn lol
I’m also too old and dumb to use VPN stuff, but I don’t mind waiting, lol. Nice to have this single and that Japanese House album to look forward to.
For the non tech savvy people, VPNs are actually pretty simple these days; it's often as simple as downloading an app and picking the country you want through a list. Android TVs also support VPN apps which is sweet for getting region specific TV and movies. Like, all I had to do in my app here is tap "New Zealand" and I'm done :)
This is how I am when someone tries to teach me a card game after a few beers. Absolutely will not learn lmao
I tried to download a vpn, immediately prompted to pay so i did free trial. Still can’t figure out how to listen to the song. Deleted the vpn and ended the free trial.
I like his solo stuff but the consistency/flow on his albums are bad imo. There are some great stand out tracks from each album I love so I do get excited to see more from John. I went to see him on his solo tour in dallas and the show was.... weird. There was like 20 people in the room but everyone was a true fan. It was awkward as there was just one die-hard losing it next to the stage and then just a bunch of people standing around.
