I saw them (Straylight and TCF) on a tour together shortly after Fred left the band... Im sure they spent plenty of time together.
As others said they've def toured together at one point in their post-TBS bands, and I'm sure they probably played at or attended other shows/festivals and etc. I remember Adam in that oral history (or maybe somewhere else?) saying something about how he bumped into Fred at a festival show or something and they talked and what not, so I figured probably coulda happened with John too.
Oh got it. Yeah after the Terrible Things album tanked (which is a damn shame) Fred had a bit of a rude awakening. He toured with Say Anything and The Lemonheads as a touring musician but then it got to the point where he couldn't make a living from music anymore so he took a day job to support his family, basically retiring from music up until 2019 when he reactivated The Color Fred. It sucks but it happens to lots of people. Music is a tough business to be in. I'm glad he's back doing it full time
Just listened to the Terrible Things album last week for the first time in ages. There are some incredible songs on there!
I also love some of those Terriblie Things tunes, I was so happy about Fred working with Andy on that
The only bands more interesting than TBS on that lineup are Andrew, Head Automatica (wtf???), LS Dunes and MCS
if this tour, or my date, was Andrew, Head Automatica, Dunes, MCS and TBS I would have SMASHED buy. But it's not, so I'm skipping the tour
No NYC date, but they're doing PNC Art Center in Jersey? That place holds 19k people are they friggin delusional?? AND that looks to be the only date that doesnt have a special guest.
Agreed about Fred. He's not a frontman, but his sound was integral to that period of TBS's success and I think another album with him and Rubano would've been this band on another level of success. With that said, I think Adam's vocal quality would've been called out years earlier if they were still at that level of popularity in the 2010's. Such a shame he never took care of his voice over the years.
I believe Head Automatica is the special guest on that date according to the Brooklynvegan post I saw. THAT being said...yeah...this should have done the Pier in NYC and Stone Pony Summerstage in AP, NOT an ampitheater in Holmdel.
yeah im very surprised theres no NYC or Long Island date - this is a perfect Jones Beach show. PNC in Holmdel is nice, but, i don't wanna drive to either there or philly lol
In 2019 I was given free tickets to the Rockstar Uproar fest at PNC - The Used, Circa Survive, Thrice, The Story So Far, Atreyu, Sleeping With Sirens, Four Year Strong, a few others......if I had to guess there was only like 2,500 people there. In a venue that holds almost 20,000 that was very embarrassing. I'm sure this show will sell better, I'd guess 6k max, but it'll still look awkward in such a large place.
I've only been to PNC a handful of times but I think if you can upgrade the majority of lawn to pavillion the day of show (pavillion holds about 6k) it doesn't look terribly empty which I imagine is what they'll do.
Eddie was recently outed for physically and emotionally abusing his ex-partner, so he can stay there.
TBS Sunday and these other legacy bands can’t expect fans to stand through all these other bands (which I’m sure are probably great bands). We are old as shit. Also if they are releasing a new album, this seems like a weird way to promote it. People will expect the hits.
