Agree on both statements! I saw them first in '06 on the Louder Now tour. He sounded phenomenal. Then again in mid-2012 @ Warped Tour and he was so-so. Sounded great at the 10-year TAYF tour in Vegas in late-2012. I think that was the last time I saw them until this year at the TEB tour. Didn't sound good there. It was the first date of the tour, but I also wasn't a fan of that southern revival persona he has going on. It was a bit much. Next time I see them, I want it to be in an indoor club setting, cause that's where they shine IMO. Watching him hang upside down from a balcony in Vegas drinking Jack from a bottle while still singing really well will be a memory I'll hold onto forever.
Folks also need to remember that when ever you see TBS live - whether that’s last year, tomorrow, or 5 years from now - they will just have come off another TAYF tour, so Adam’s vocal chords are probably super tired.
Going through scans of old issues of our local Utah zine, Slug Magazine. I didn’t know The Used, TBS, and Blood Brothers toured together! I would have killed to be at that show. But I didn’t have a car yet in early 2003, so it checks out. Ha. Also, crazy seeing MCR opened a Piebald show. Haha and holy shit that Coheed lineup!
I've seen TBS 8 times over the years dating back to like 2007. I've always had a really fun time at their shows. Adam has never had stellar vocals but they've always been good enough to enjoy imo. But some of these recent videos I've been watching are just flat out yikes. Bands always sound worse on recordings than when actually at the show so idk but that is bad.
I'll say that I saw them on this tour and I don't think they sounded any better or worse than they have in the last like 10 years and I've seen them a bunch in that time
I saw them at chainfest last year and they sounded decent to me, but I was also drunk and my knee was bleeding so who knows
Shared this in the Dashboard thread but in Philly tonight Chris brought Fred out on stage and said he helped Chris re-learn how to play guitar after his motorcycle accident. Said Fred called him and asked him how long he could hold his arms up for, and Chris said 3 minutes, so Fred made him 3 minute guitar lesson videos
I do remember Fred saying on his YouTube channel that he actually almost joined Dashboard, but the timing didn't work out
If people are bitching at how bad they sounded in an amphitheater, I can’t imagine how much worse they’re gonna sound in an arena.
Just unbelievable that they have an opportunity to put new music in front of TONS of people and they won’t be ready for it. that feels like such a missed opportunity.
This was completely unexpected news. wow. I'm going to the Portland date. I will report back how it goes. Surprised they're playing Portland twice roughly three months apart.
Do we know this for sure? Anyways, jammed the Happiness Is bonus tracks today. All of them are fantastic, and the two newest songs on the greatest hits comp? Excited for the future of TBS honestly
i don’t know anything for sure, but I’d find it hard to believe that they’d have anything ready by October. *maybe* a one off but I find like highly unlikely as well.
"It is a wonderful pleasure to be here with all you fine, beautiful people! Isn't that right Mr. Jonathan Nolan? It is also a fine and glorious pleasure to play with our comrades in Rock AND Roll - MY. CHEMICAL. ROMANCE. Can I get an a-men?!"
