I just still think it has so much to do with the time they are playing on this tour and size of these venues. Makes it much more noticeable. Like others said when you are in a 2-4K club and everyone is ready to sing along it just feels right. Also Adam’s persona is just interesting. I mean if they are happy and feel good about what they are doing then I can’t fault them.
The best these guys ever sounded was with Fazzi and then with Fred pre-Louder Now and during the Louder Now-era. Saw them at house of blues Chicago in 06 before Louder Now dropped. They sounded so great. Those performances ended up being used for MTV. After that, I made sure to see them every chance I got. Even after Fazzi joined because they only got tighter as a band. Then the OG lineup got back together and the nostalgia was great, but holy hell the live show was a flop. Messing up songs musically and lyrically, bad drum timing…like holy shit.
I have not seen this conversation or videos so this is my first reaction to this, but what in the actual hell is going on here? Adam appears to be in pain and also putting on some sort of stage presence act? I'm just...what?
YouTube and every live experience I've had with this band since 2006 shows that Adam has always sounded like shit live
No, John. In all 5 or so of the videos on that youtube channel, john nolan is playing gently as if his guitar strings were made out strands of hair.
I got a reply from Fred on his YT video once and felt so special haha. I forget what I said, probably something about how much he formed my music tastes and how he was my favorite guitarist in the band
"you're the poster boy, their selling point, the focus for the new campaign" is the smoothest flow adam's written
I remember having to read the liner notes on that one back in 2004. Could not make it out to save my life.
Seen TBS 21 times (22 is on Friday). They are not meant to play amphitheaters. Whether it’s with Fred (Projekt Revolution), Fazzi (Blink Reunion Tour), or John (Coheed Coheadliner), they were all bottom three performances. This band feeds off the crowd and it’s hard to have crowd energy during daylight sets where most of the people are seated/there for the bigger bands. They are somewhat better at festivals since people can get crazy, but where they are meant to play is indoors at small/mid-size venues. Regardless of how Adam sounds, they’ve never disappointed me with their overall performance in those settings.
You missed a huge opportunity to celebrate your 20th time/anniversary in this thread. Twenty is a big deal in TBS-world. You'd have been worshipped.
I’ll never not love this band.. but dang that’s rough. Adam def has gotten worse since the 20 year tour
