not sure i understand the characterization of 3eb as a nostalgia band, they play new songs all the time
I was going to comment, but I didn't want to turn the TBS thread into a 3EB thread. But very much this. By this logic, if 3EB is a nostalgia act, then every band is.
For the 20 year two album shows they did tell all your friends a whole step down and he sounded great.
I wasn’t aware. That’s cool they play new stuff as well and still play bigger venues. Guess I just assumed.
I know this is a rehash of previous conversation, but just left the Jones Beach show and they really just don’t have it live anymore. Seen them 20 or so times since 2003 and Adam’s voice has been in decline for a decade but at this point he’s basically talking. The southern baptist preacher bit is also beyond grating. Mileage has definitely caught up all around. But holy shit: 3EB absolutely ripped it. Cannot believe Stephan Jenkins is 57!
It was really bad when I saw them on the anniversary tour just before Covid. In between every song was a 10 minute rambling session, stories meandered without making sense or having any conclusion. Totally killed the energy of the show.
John still sounds great. I don't know what's up with their sound mix but the entire band sounded like an indecipherable puddle of instruments. Then 3EB came on and their sound was super tight and dialed in. Makes me think that it wasn't a venue problem for TBS.
I actually don’t even think John sounds good I know I have said in here in the past he seems to just be going through the motions and screaming all his lines. That said, I haven't seen them since the 20 tour.
I don’t think anyone in the past 10 years has gone to a TBS show for the performance on stage, but rather their shows have so much energy because it’s like 75 minutes of a nonstop singalong with 1,200 other people. Can’t say that for a lot of other bands.
i still thought they sounded good at riot fest. not really sure what band you guys are seeing but the 10 or so times i've seen them since 2012 i've never thought adam sounded bad
theyre so incredibly hit or miss. i have seen them in the last year twice, once thought they sounded great and another was god awful.
Just feel like maybe they should stick to mid size clubs. Have they milked the two night stay in major cities with full album plays (not TAYF) feel like that could be a good move.
When was the last time these fuckers popped out of the fucking wall and played a new song on tour that wasn’t a cover or a collab song?
Idk the answer to that question but hearing just us two live was a treat. They’re one of my favorite bands but the set lists are nauseatingly nostalgic so I’ll take what I can get.
never really went to a tbs show for on point vocals or incredible musicianship…I went to sing my heart out and jump around in a sea of fellow fans…don’t think they’ve gotten any better or worse live I think I’ve just gotten older and less able to continue to sing or jump thus increasing my listening to the actual performance which has never really been good
They need to bring back eddie and fred back for any hope of being relevant or enjoyable live again. Id say rubano too but he obv has no interest.
No idea what Eddie or Fred would do for their live shows that John and that new guy aren’t doing now. I’m not ready to abandon them as we’ve heard just two songs with their current lineup, both of which I thought were excellent
