But...for a band that keeps claiming they're not a nostalgia band, they keep leaning on their nostalgia appeal. Which is fine for bands if they want to do that, but those bands don't keep blasting media/fans for calling them nostalgia bands. I mean, look at TBS' social media pages after every show they play...how many times have they shared the video of fans screaming 'Why Can't I Feel Anything...' at each show? It's like every day when they're on tour. We ALL know that's their biggest moment of any show, don't need to post it on social media every day when you're trying not to be a nostalgia band. I say this a HUGE TBS fan, and a HUGE fan of HI and TW.
Semi related, the little booklet TAYF remembrance interview that came with the anniversary cassette tape had a funny quote from John about how he was talking to a record exec before they signed and he was all excited and about 10-15 minutes into the convo he realized the exec thought he was talking to Jesse Lacey about BN lol
lol of course they'd never drop the song... Its just a personal want as someone who has seen them more times than I can remember. And I do enjoy the song but would love more room for their other material.
I'd love for them to pull out Brooklyn. According to setlist.fm they've only played it 8 times total and its one of their best songs imo
I can honestly say I've probably heard every song I've ever wanted to hear from them live. Never thought I'd live to see the day to see I'll Let You Live and A Slowdance, but that itch was scratched on the 20 tour. Also somehow have seen them play Your Own Disaster twice, which is a top 3 TBS song for me. There's some songs on HI and TW that I really like that I haven't seen live yet, but they're not songs that I need to see live.
Saw them tonight and…it’s been rough for years but adam is now approaching axl rose / Vince Neil levels of sounding like complete shit. I don’t mean to be a dick but I don’t think I’ll pay to see them again.
He sounds better when they play newer songs, mainly because those were recorded within his current range and singing style. Another reason for them to play more TW and HI material.
I agree he didn’t sound good but I also agree with the below. I’m generally much more bothered by the gratuitous vibrato he puts on every line lol. I get keeping the songs fresh but it changes the vibe. all that said I love seeing them and will always go if I can.
Agreed. Doesn't help that the venue was on the water either, but the two RiverWorks 2019 Halloween shows/that random parking lot ETID show in 2017 both sounded rough too. I am personally 0/4 in Buffalo lol
So I follow them on Instagram and some of these videos they post from the 3EB shows look just awkward. Feel like they are just taking the 3EB trajectory and leaning on one-two nostalgia albums. The problem is those songs don’t sound good when they play them anymore. Not sure what their move should be at this point. I also don’t think large amphitheater shows lend themselves to their sound.
I got to think that most people going, myself included, mostly want to hear the first three albums. His style of singing is super wearing, I know that personally, from loud car singing! I'd think they could rearrange them to be easier on Adam's voice though. And yea, at this point they're a nostalgia act, especially on a tour with 3EB. I'm going the 22nd, tempering my expectations lol.
