I’m not a huge fan of it tbh. I don’t think Adam’s voice is really working with the sound of the song. And the lyrics are not hitting me. it’s okay but prob won’t be returning to it much. I’m also not into edm/electronic sound in general so I’m def not the target audience for this collab haha
I could buy the argument his voice/style doesn’t totally fit the song but he sounds incredible on it. I think it’s a fun listen.
I liked the blink one a decent amount but as of today couldn't quote you a lyric or melody from it lol
Third Eye Blind and Taking Back Sunday Aren’t (Just) Here for Nostalgia Nice Try, Adam... These tours are coming on the heels of two anniversaries: Third Eye Blind is celebrating 25 years of its debut and then Taking Back Sunday has 20 years of its debut. Are these things you’re readily aware of, like, Oh yeah, that’ll be 20 years of that? How do events like this come up? AL: I’m definitely not aware. We just have to be reminded. I guess you could look at it as some kind of school reunion or something. It’s pretty rare that most people I know would be like, Oh man, pretty soon it’s gonna be 20 years since high school. I was reminded by our manager. Then in that moment, it hits you, like, Oh my God. I don’t know about you, Stephan, but we don’t often allow ourselves much time to sit and reflect.
Also, judging by that interview, I don't think Third Eye Blind have any clue as to who TBS even are. Thought this tour was a weird pairing from the start, and now it's even more bizarre.
Haha is he joking here? That would be an absolutely insane statement considering they've spent the past FOUR years almost exclusively acknowledging and celebrating anniversaries.
I mean, the celebration of TAYF has gotten extremely annoying considering they’ve been playing it front to back for like 10 years at this point haha. But like, if my band had a platinum selling debut that influenced the music scene/industry the way TAYF did, I sure as hell wouldn’t forget the anniversaries of it haha.
Now all we need is another quote by Adam saying he hates when TBS is referred to as emo. I talk a lot of shit, but I love the band of course.
Hey, credit where credit is due. He at least warned us years in advance that Jesse Lacey was an asshole.
I don't follow 3EB at all, but I still wonder about Zach Lind's tweets about Stephen Jenkins were all about. Zach basically made it sound like Stephen was worse than Jesse...
Taking Back Sunday will celebrate every TAYF anniversary the same way that The Ataris do with So Long Astoria, and Thursday do with Full Collapse. At least TBS still releases new music though.......
When did you start noticing their music? "Oh man TBS is just ubiquitous" Completely avoids answering what song of theirs he would cover. Dude didn't even try
These guys are entering their 40s, they gotta make a living right. Let the have their TAYF moment right now Bc it’s probably helping to fund the next record (Idt they’re on a label rn). I support the aoki collab too, and i thought i would hate it. But how cool would it be for them to be relevant in current music again! All the power to them!!
I don't think this tour is really celebrating TAYF like in the past. It's just a summer tour that coincides with the 20th anniversary of the album. They aren't playing it front to back. I know they did the re-release, but that's not much as far as this year goes.
That’s my understanding as well. It’s just their first “real” tour after the pandemic. That interview just happened to use nostalgia as the angle of the article.
Yeah, there has been nothing saying they are playing TAYF. I know people like to rag on them (I make jokes too), but what have they done as far as celebrate TAYF on tour? The TAYF10 tour and the TBS 20th Anniversary Tour 6+ years later (putting out two albums and touring a ton in between), where they also played one or two other albums in most cities? I’m guessing they’ve also played it at Riot Fest, once or twice which is a festival that seems to like album plays.
I wonder if they’ll ever “iron & wine trapeze swinger” it and open with Cute one of these days just to get it out of the way.
Yeah, exactly. During the 20th anniversary tour, it wasn't just a celebration of TAYF. They played WYWTB and Louder Now front to back as well. The TAYF shit is getting overblown around here tbh. Like I said before, I know they've done remastered versions/re-releases, but how much effort does that really take? That's not much.
