Listening to Orensanz for the first time. The "man, that was ages ago" harmonies in the bridge of Carpathia are cool
1. Set Phasers To Stun 2. Bonus Mosh Pt. 2 3. Cute Without The E (oooooof) 4. There's No I In Team 5. Great Romances 6. New American Classic 7. This Is All Now 8. One Eighty By Summer 9. We Were Younger Then 10. We Don't Go In There (my darkhorse..def gonna be the only one that picks this here lol) 11. Slowdance 12. I'll Find a Way... (the only 12th song on any album of thiers) I did this with the assumption that "preface" doesn't count. I really wanted to put Beat Up Car on there but couldn't against those others. 10 was the weirdest one on my list I'm sure. Def like most of the other #10s but really loved We Don't Go In there when that album first came out. MakeDamnSure against Cute Without The E is unfair......I went for the one that I still have more fun screaming along to.

They truly went baseball lineup and put their best hitter 3rd almsot every time. Not that those are all the best songs on each album but they are all up there more or less. You can’t look back is such a great song but I couldn’t put it on there above Cute or mds
Don't worry. It's for people to make a "perfect TBS album" and I just did the hard work for everyone by listing them all, ha.
Self Titled is a cautionary tale for fans to be careful what they wish for.. because it might come true. Man, S/T mostly sucks. New Again is easily better and definitely top 3 without a doubt.
Anyone else a little annoyed with the complete lack of progress on new music (as far as we know because they rarely even talk about it)? These guys have time to record albums with side projects (Fuckin Whatever), write theme songs for animated series, and Mark has recorded/produced/worked on a number of albums for other groups, all in the past year where everything was supposedly on hold "for the pandemic." Meanwhile, numerous other artists have released or announced new albums. Seems like the pandemic was the perfect time to at least get all the pieces in place. Five years is a loooong drought, especially after they worked their asses off for years to regenerate the buzz they lost in that 08-11 timespan.
No, i am not annoyed at all in how they chose to spend their time during a global pndemic likely doing whatever they could to make quick money for their families that they lost the ability to make from touring and sales. Bad take.
They were working on an album pre pandemic, in the studio together. They plan to go back in this year once everything calms down. It’s a pandemic man. Not everyone was working the same way. And iirc on twitter, they have written during this, just waiting to resume recording
Also, Hopeless Records doesn't show them on their active roster. They may not have a label right now, which would mean they'd be footing 100% of the bill for any recording or demo'ing. Not a likely scenario over the last 12-14 months.
This is a fair response. Seeing all the new music from others just kind of led me in that direction, but everyone has approached this pandemic in their own way so probably not a good comparison on my end.
I'd also venture a guess that with all those other side projects, they're probably willing to just wing it and do whatever, but for the album, they might wanna stick with their usual process of having everybody in one place writing together and hashing out song ideas, especially with no guidance from Eddie this time around, etc. They probably didn't want to mess with that process and try to do things virtually and such. Assumign they're all vaccinated or will be soon, I assume they'll get together to record.
maybe i’ll give the post-s/t albums a listen today. i think i only listened once each and decided they weren’t for me.
I think the biggest "problem" with TBS as they've gotten older is, since they moved away from that "scene" sound, they've progressed into more of a traditional rock band...which is okay! I like rock!...but that transition also kind of took some of the things away (like the reliance on dual vocals) that made them unique, and could let you look past things like Adam not having the strongest voice for a frontman or the song writing not always being top notch. With that said, I do think the two latest albums are definitely a different sound with some creative and new song writing decisions for this band, and I like them a lot. But that's also not what originally drew me to TBS. So while they're good, I don't think the better writing and experimenting with their sound on HI and TW does enough to make up for the fact that they're not as a unique a sound as they were back in the TAYF-LN era. If that makes sense.
