There’s something about the way Adam sings “Your family’s nesssst aaasskksss...” that really makes my skin crawl
BOY WHERE HAVE YOU BEN CUZ YOU DUNNO WHERE I BENNNNNNN He sounds like he has a mouth full of food when he sings this line
New Again and the self-titled are the worst period for Adam vocally. His voice had changed so much since LN and he just had no idea how to use it seems. He figured it out on Happiness Is and finally seems to be getting in a groove with it on Tidal Wave and the two new songs off Twenty.
Adam sounds SO good on Happiness Is/Tidal Wave that everything else before is the worst period for Adam vocally compared to those.
Yeah definitely. Over the course of touring on WYWTB and Louder Now, his lack of proper live vocal technique and smoking habit definitely took their toll.
I think his voice sounds best on Louder Now TBH. Fred's sounded best on LN too but I like it more on WYWTB, more of the raw scream. I wish John would get loud more often, I'm not always a fan of his softer singing voice these days.
I'll never get why people dislike Money so much. The rhythm in those verses is catchy as fuck. One of the few songs I enjoy on that album Nothing at All is great. Reminds me of Clarissa is Wierd. Would love for them to do more stuff like that, and Adam's voice sounds so good in it His voice sounded its best on LN, with a close second on WYWTB. They're too rough for me these days, but agree with others he really found his way again on Happiness Is.
I think Money is fine. Not as bad as some of you are making it out to be...but then again some of you love You Got Me and Like You Do. COWARDS.
Expectations were high as fuck when the news broke that they’d gotten back together. Aside from like 3 songs, the reunion of the original lineup really fell flat to me. But that has made me find new appreciation for the stuff between TAYF and the reunion a lot more. During the Fred/Fazzi years, I only wanted John back. But now...I’d take Fred or Fazzi back anyday of the week. (As long as they’d still play “Flicker Fade” and “El Paso” live)
I was so pumped to hear he original line up get back together. Then live show footage started showing up and Fred and Fazzi were far superior performers then John. Fazzi was my favorite live member. Fred was my favorite songwriter. Matt was my favorite personality. That’s what i realized when John came back. Then they came out with S/T and I was obsessed with it when it came out. But it was just a dialed in album. It was like there were trying to recreate Louder Now by going with Eric Valentine again. Today, I can say that album fell short, which is ok because they were trying to figure each other out again. THEN Happiness Is and Tidal Wave came out. They just fucking clicked and found their identity. Those two albums are fantastic.
I like TW more and more with every listen and dislike ST more and more every time i think about it lol it seems to be an unpopular opinion on this site but El Paso is absolutely terrible.
I can make an argument that S/T is one of the most disappointing albums I’ve ever heard given the expectations leading up to the release. Not to say there aren’t some redeeming tracks on there but almost all TBS fans wanted John/Shaun back and we finally got them back and after waiting for 8-9 years the S/t album was just so lackluster. EASILY my least fave TBS album. They really rebounded though with HI and TW, which I think both are incredible. But I can’t help but think what would have happened if Fred and Rubano just stayed in the band.
I think I'm one of the only people who loves the song "Who Are You Anyway?". Always a highlight for me on S/T. Also, 'All Ready To Go' still rips hard.
Heh I hate You Got Me, but I really enjoy Like You Do. It's really catchy. Also find it interesting when people say that song doesnt fit on the album when there's a song like Stood A Chance on it that is so different from the rest of the album :P I really like Who Are You Anyway. Kinda forgot it existed till you mentioned it. It's one of the good ones on that album
