I almost stayed completely within that album but wanted a more diverse bottom 5 lmao. There are a few on there I enjoy, though.
that's the melody from boys of summer Not sure if that time stamped correctly. Right around 25 seconds in
Bottom 5 TBS songs (in no particular order) Up Against Blue Channel Cut Me Up Jenny (musically? Good time. Lyrically and vocal delivery? Fucking awful) Money (you know, this might actually THE worst TBS song) Like You Do
Money (easily the worst song they've ever made) Who Are You Anyway Since You're Gone Like You Do (just....honestly a pointless song imo) Up Against also, Money was used before the album came out in a video they made of Mark taking Adam to get a haircut and I remember thinking how cool it sounded then was so wildly let down with the finished product.
I like You Got Me because of how personal it is, I don't think it's a GOOD song, but I appreciate how open and personal Adam gets in the lyrics, after a career of notoriously completely burying his song's/lyric meanings and essentially leaving everything up to interpretation (besides EMG of course lol) if anything, what i like the most about their new music is how personal his lyrics have gotten.
Yeah I just can't think of a moment in YCLB that sounds like that is my point. At least not vocally or in the guitars. But that's fine, doesn't change my love for the song :P
If I were Adam's kid, I'd find it a little weird to hear a song written by my dad talking about how I was a mistake haha
DUDE! I felt the same way about Money. I remember hearing the music in that video and being like “hmm, that’s fun bassline. Sounds like it could be really cool”...then the i heard the vocal melody and lyrics. And yeah, “Like You Do” just doesn’t feel like it has a place on that album whereas “Can you feel that” or “This Is Happening” fit the overall vibe waaaay better
I always thought the same thing...like someday his kid is gonna hear that song (and the demo version of it) and realize her dad was trying to talk her mom out of an abortion. I don’t think that would bother me personally but some people might not like that
Am I the only one who was expecting “Capital M-E” to be much more harsh towards Fred than what the finished product turned out to be? Like, for a band that wrote songs like “There’s No I in Team” and “The Union”, it seemed pretty tame imo
The only moment I can hear it a tiny bit is literally the first line of the songs and the rhythm in how they’re sung...there might be an exact match on a note or two in that first line as well but it’s the way they’re song more than anything.
“All i ever did was look up to you and you slither away like the snake that you are” is pretty harsh imo lol
Y'all got me fucked up with some of these bottom 5 lists. Heres mine in no order and without listening to anything: Capital M-E Money Faith Like You Do Since You're Gone
I think Adam ultimately had a lot of respect for - or liked - Fred. I remember vividly about 8 or 9 years ago a picture was floating around on Twitter of the two of them together. Adam Lazzara And Fred Mascherino Have Cleared The Air
My guess is John and Fred and Adam are all on good terms now. Hell, I saw Fred open up for Straylight in 2007. I remember thinking that had to be bizarre for them and that I wished I was a fly on the wall during John and Fred's convos.
