I'm thinking it's probably the latter. I don't think they wanted to do it -- they clearly gave him time, but in the end, the tone of the song makes it kinda sound like they finally pulled the plug.
neither did i. i follow eddie on some of his personal social media accounts. i would say from some of the things he posted, he was not happy about leaving.
i don't want to air dirty laundry or anything. he's friends with a lot of people on Facebook, fans, etc. every once and awhile there would just be a post for a few hours that he'd later delete. others have posted about it here. i don't know him personally but he seems like a really good dude. wishing him the best in his new band.
When i heard the song for the second time, i made the connection but didn't want to post here and sound crazy lol. Just the chorus itself: "I was livid. You weren't listening. It didn't matter, cause you were leaving. You were all ready to go." If we're taking it there, maybe they tried to save the whole situation, but it crumbled in the end. I also have a genuine question: if he was kicked out, is that even allowed being that it's technically his band? Can they do that?
It's not technically his band. All five members were likely equal partners in TBS LLC or however they've incorporated their band.
What's the name of Eddie's new band? I remember everyone posting that their first song was actually good but the name is slipping me.
Woah, Fate's Got A Driver is actually really good haha. I dig Pennies. Trying to think of what this reminds me of.
My cousin’s best friend’s husband’s band opened for Eddie’s band last week at The Odeon. I’ve nothing else interesting to tell you about it though.
I relistened to the song last night and I can definitely see the connection there. I definitely believe they really wanted it to work out and hoped Eddie would get better but it got to a point where being in that world became too much for Eddie to really focus his efforts on getting better
I want to hear Eddies new band. Also, I remember awhile back some fan heckling TBS on Twitter about ‘Kicking Eddie out of the band’ and not saying anything to fans about it. Then whoever was behind the tbs account was not having it. I remember responding to a heckler with Eddies personal post about not being in TbS anymore and tbs liked the comment. So who knows. Eddie seems to be in a better place though. This was around the time Eddie announced he wasn’t with the band due to needing to care for himself and family. Posted a sobriety thing too.
I remember, in 2003, when I asked a good friend of mine who was obsessed with TAYF how WYWTB was he said "It's as good as it needs to be".
I never had the nostalgia for this band, I got in to them way later, so TAYF almost does nothing for me other than a few songs. WYWTB legit holds up but I love the direction the band is in now. Deathwolf, Tidal Wave, Can't Look Back, Flicker Fade, Beat Up Car are probably my top TBS songs at the moment and they are all off the last two releases.
Another hot take from me, is that New Again was the first album I listened to from them and I have always loved it. I know it was considered a disappointment after Louder Now which was probably their biggest record, but I didn't go in with exceptions and the songs on that album rule.
I still like New Again, tbh. It’s my least favorite/revisited album of theirs but songs like the title track, Mouth, Catholic, Caprathia and of course EMG(especially) are still songs I adore.
