I wouldn't call Rolling Stone's review "blasting" the album. It got 2.5 stars out of 5 which was/is pretty much par for the course for RS reviews of 'scene' bands. Also said Sink Into Me is a song Foo Fighters wish they wrote PS (edit) I have no idea how to insert photos properly onto this site
Pretty confident there was a longer review in the actual magazine that was much more critical of the album. I remember the reviewer being very turned off of songs that Adam wrote in reference to the split with Fred.
Favorite versions of some of so many songs are on that album. Edit: And damn, now you have me going and listening to it right now. Love it.
If I could re-track that omnipotence I lacked. I’d tell you less of what you want to hear, and more of what you wish you never knew.
I always thought Where my Mouth Is was about Shaun and John, and his regret for how that all went down originally.
I wish he'd release a solo record, or at least an EP. Just guitar, harmonica, and voice. Some of my favorite songs are the songs he wrote through and through (Your Own Disaster, Didn't see that Coming, Divine Intervention.) I think he sounds great when he keeps it simple and doesn't plug in.
believe it's about both. Adam was dealing with his substance problems during the WYWTB/LN days so that line that goes something like "lost not one but two friends" refers to John and Fred.
Anybody know where I can get "Follow The Format?" I think that is the only B-Side I don't have and I remember loving that song.
I love this performance so much, the New Again era produced the best live albums. I was listening to the Bamboozle 09 release too and the performances of 180 by Summer and Carpathia are definitely worth checking out.
New Again had some good songs! I get the hate but I digged it a lot at the time admittedly it's been a long time since I've listened to it.
Both those releases are awesome! My only minor complaint is that Matt can't scream so on Bamboozle 09 we don't get the "I've got a baaddddd" scream at the end of Decade. He is a hell of a singer though, so it's forgivable I suppose.
True, but idk if finding a great quality version of that song anywhere is entirely possible. Even the most fervent of fans on the TBSUnion forums back in the day likely got the file on their computer from LimeWire.
I remember having it in a DL of b-sides from a pirate site. I thought what I had was high quality enough. I lost it many years ago though.
Self-titled's cover art looks like the garbage from Weezer's Maladroit. Just dreadful to look at and evokes nothing.
was listening to Oresanz last night at work, I love Shaun but damn I miss Rubano and his bass lines. that version of Carpathia is so groovy
