I love them but they're just not a band I want to spend $1,500+ to see them play 4 nights in a row. I honestly can't even believe they thought this would be even close to a success.
Late reply but the Friday setlist was actually different than the Saturday setlist. It included 180 by Summer. (So, in my opinion, a much better setlist). I don’t like the Green Day cover but also because they have 7 albums worth of material and they choose to play a cover and Adam usually has such a long-winded story that goes along with it, that they could play two songs in that time. They also played All Excess on Saturday in place of Call Come Running (they did that one on Friday). I know that everybody is eye rolling over makedamnsure being a closer and they arguably have better ones, but I think they’re looking at it from the viewpoint of “this is a song people might leave after hearing” (that and Cute). The Maine was super entertaining. They really made it feel like they were trying to amp up the crowd for TBS and were more entertaining as an opener now than they were back in 2011 (and I thought they were more entertaining as an opener than they were on their own tour / but that might be because they played two albums straight through and didn’t do any bantering). Is anybody else over seeing them with Modern Chemistry? They share a manager and I guess Adam’s into them, but I find them dreadfully boring.
From what I’ve heard through the grapevine they’re working on figuring something out for their 20th anniversary of being a band (2019) but I’m not sure if they’re going to try the Jamaica thing again That was too damn expensive and a Jamaica vacation doesn’t cost that much - the added perks didn’t make up the difference; only having two people to a room was also a weird situation because if you could fit 4 people per room it would possibly cost less? Also I’d rather they didn’t go with frank iero because there are few things less desireable than being stuck on an island with his fans.
Eh, this is kind of weird considering Adam joined after 99 and John and Shaun left the band for 7 years and they already did a 10-year for TAYF.
i dont mind MDS as a closer, and much prefer it over cute. i remember liking the modern chemistry record tho, gonna have to revisit it.
I don't mind them closing their main set with MDS, but the encore closer could use a change-up. I wouldn't mind seeing a song like "...Slowdance" or "We Were Younger Then" closing an encore. I saw them play in Philly on their reunion tour in 2010 and they closed the show with "There's No I in Team" and it was probably my favorite closer I've seen from them.
He was going home. He asked me how my day was going and I said it was a bit slower than usual for a Friday and that I hope it picked up bc I really needed money. Then he asked what I needed it for, so I told him my band was going on tour. At this point I had given no indication that I knew it was him even though I immediately knew lol. He was like “oh yeah? Where are you going?” and I told him the dates and we talked about how tour routing is usually kinda wonky and imperfect. He was like “I’ve been touring for 15 years now,” and I was like “yeah, I had a hunch you’re in Taking Back Sunday, right?” He asked me how I knew and I just told him that I’m a pretty big fan. When we got back to his place we talked for an extra couple of minutes about how much of an uphill battle being a musician is and how you really just have to keep fighting if you really feel compelled to do it. Then I asked how much the Charlotte studio they recorded their last album in charged. He asked me my band’s name twice in the 10 minutes he was in the car and said he’d check us out, so who knows. I hope this doesn’t come off antagonistic but I’d really appreciate not being called “man.” I understand a lot of people claim to use it gender neutrally, but that doesn’t really work for a lot of people, myself included.
It’s all good, that’s why I was telling you. Honestly though, it’s just not safe to assume that’s something everyone is comfortable with. Again, really not my intention to cause problems or anything.
Any time I've ever met him he's always struck me as a little awkward but very nice. I've never been sure what to talk to him about haha I always found Adam Shaun and Mark easy to talk to though.
mineral girls this is the last time every time, by mineral girls (We’re also on Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube/whatever works best for you)
I'm listening back to the Live at Bamboozle album, and goddamn is that a fun listen. Great set and a ton of energy. Only thing about it I wasn't a fan of was the end of "Decade" how it just kinda ends with no scream, but that wasn't really Fazzi's forte so w/e
