I can def see that, but I never really thought of mainstream religions as being shallow or lacking details or etc. Def reminds me a lot of Trump's campaign rhetoric and the promises of great policies without saying how they'd actually work and how nobody really seems to care they're just gonna vote and support it and etc. I guess we could say it's a combo of both and about how demogauges like Trump and their followers have a lot of similarities to religion.
I’ll do ya even better. 1. “I saw fences tied in razor wiiiiiiiiire, borders drawn in blood. I saw nothing but rain for days, still I wasn’t ready for the flood.” 2. “Still feel the same way, still don’t know where I’m going/cut your wrist and come and get you some, it only works if you don’t look down” 3. “Oh yea oh yea alright, I felt dirty and I didn’t know why.” 4. ”Drown Drown out the best paaaaarts. Down down down the draaAAAAaaain.” 5. “I know you’re tired, I feel it too” In retrospect I could’ve combined the parts of all excess like I did in 2 but it’s late and that’s how it came out of my head lol also I swapped 2 and 4 after typing this.
These, and also John: "HOLY WATER HOLY WATER STRAIGHT AND NARROW!" Adam: "lost all that blood now were locking the door......NOBODY WILL KNOWWWW" And the exchange at the end of Middle Of It All "Middle Of It All (Calm before the storm) I can see you there (dreSsed up from the night before) in the middle of it all (felt more like a dream) I CAN SEE YOU THERE STANDING OUT OF REEEAAACH"
I do love this album. The first "pearly gates" with the inflection, yessss. All your aforementioned parts. Dirty didn't know why, drown drown out.. "You were there in spirit telling me I told you so"
Last I heard they'd patched things up with Fred, even went to a couple Terrible Things shows if I recall
Pretty much every line on this record has hit me really hard at some point. Really love this album. I don't know why exactly. It's honestly not music that I typically love.
