Talking about their production, the thing that annoys me the most with the production is the sound of the snare drum. It doesn't even sound real, its like a snap. I don't even know how to describe it but it drives me crazy sometimes lol
TAYF and WYWTB are, imo, the most similar in their discography. WYWTB just feels like a darker, tighter, better written and played take on what they did with TAYF. Truly incredible stuff. The bass run in the last two choruses of Carpathia is breathtaking.
Rubano does a nice little run before the last "THROUGH THE MUD!" in Everything Must Go that catches my attention every time. Also listen to some of his runs in this early "New Again" performance.
He was great in a lot of SR stuff. His style seems to fit that style a bit more than TBS did at that time.
Rubano is probably the better bassist, but I think Shaun stepped up his game on TW. a lot of good parts
This is their best lineup top 3 the albums are Tell all your friends Where you want to be Tidal wave Happiness is is probably 4th So 3 of the top 4 with this lineup
Tasteful things, no one uses the octave slide quite like Shaun, maybe andy prince from MO comes close
Couldn't agree more that this current lineup has pretty much all their best stuff when it comes to what I always go back and listen to.
Agreed. The way he uses that at the end of "Stood a Chance" really drives that part of the song home. Also, he has some good parts in "Fences" and at the end of "I'll Find A Way to Make It What You Want"
Oh, speaking of this. I love the bass line in We Don't Go In There! The sliding during the chorus. MMMMAH!
Been listening to a lot of the older TBS and Brand New albums recently and I'm really bummed I was smack in the middle of my third wave ska phase when a lot of these albums were out.
Im in their mailing list and haven't gotten any discount codes or anything yet but I really want that Tommy Helm designed shirt. Probably one of their coolest merch designs I've seen
In case y'all didn't get the email still: code is onthelist. It gets you 10% off any "cloth purchases"
