I would love to see Faith replaced by literally any other song from the same album. My god, even Money would be fine for me. I don’t hate Faith, I’m just tired of that always being the one they go with.
I've always liked Faith. Fun song and I like the lyrics, but Flicker Fade is 10x's better, especially for a single. I do think Faith is a better single than Sink Into Me though.
It is cool artwork. The complete recordings box set has cool artwork for each song. I was super pleased to see that.
I always liked sink into me but for some reason this spring/summer it just shot up my personal favorites list. Such a banger.
Yeah so been thinking about this all day. With apologies to about 25 other songs in contention, here's my top 5: Makedamnsure Flicker Fade Summer, Man This Is All Now Great Romances of the 20th Century Note: I think if this was a top 10, the next three or four would be from Tidal Wave. It's weird that the record that's my clear favorite has no top 5 songs on it. But with 7 records, and 16 years of songs, that's the way it works.
I seem to be one of the few that love Money. Self titled could have been so much better with those demos finished. Love everyone of them. Side note, I love having an active TBS discussion on here. I always felt like they got a really raw deal on this site and AP, mostly because of perceived animosity between Adam and Jesse lacey
Thank you @teebs41 for bumping this thread and starting some nice tbs talk. Perfect after I just saw them and wanna talk about them lol
There were a few other things that hurt their reputation on that site but no need to dig that stuff up haha. I also think the constant flux of a lineup was annoying to a lot of people, it’s nice to see the same lineup stick together (minus Eddie :() for a long time.
I always thought that after TAYF/WYWTB, they basically had the Weezer syndrome, where a huge part of the fan base was never happy with anything they ever did after they were 20 year olds, and they were actively hostile to any new material. Which was always dumb. For Weezer and TBS and anyone. Expecting a musician to not change past that stage of life is super unfair. But I always thought folks didn't like them for that, and after LN, they were never the 'cool' band for people to be into.
Forgot how fucking great Tidal Wave is. Not sure if I could place it as my favorite, but it’s definitely their best record.
Faith isn’t a bad song, but it’s just an okay song. It’s fun to hear live, but I wish they would play “best places” or “this is all now” more frequently than they play Faith. “Since You’re Gone” starts out great and the chorus sounds huge, but the lyrics/melody in it aren’t very good imo. I think they play El Paso less because when they put out that album and opened sets with it, they expected a more intense reaction from the crowd, but people apparently weren’t feeling it, so they stopped playing it. Also, the b-sides/demos for S/T are among some of their best work ever. How those songs didn’t make the cut, i’ll never know.
How was the show? And how dis they sound without Eddie? Their back-up guy Nathan is pretty solid, so I assume it does ‘t sound too different.
I like it, but if definitley has some weak tracks. However: El Paso This Is All Now Doesn’t Feel A Thing Like Falling Sad Saviour Best Places To Be A Mom Call Me In The Morning All great tracks
