I dig "I'll Find a Way..." as a closer mainly because I love Shaun's use of the upper-register on his bass and Mark just goes absolutely nuts. When I saw them on the Tidal Wave tour, I was talking to Shaun after the show, and he said something like they wanted to try a closer where the whole band is front and center instead of Adam screaming his head off.
no album of theirs comes close to topping WYWTB for me. Louder Now has only weakened with age IMO. Ranking as of 11:57am on Friday 7/13/18 would have to be; WYWTB HI TAYF TW LN NA S/T most of self titled is at this point completely unlistenable to me. Faith, Mom, Sad Savior, & Call Me are really all I can go back to on it. I'll duck for cover but El Paso is one of the worst things they've ever done ever.
I agree that "Nothing at All" is an underwhelming closer for HI. On Spotify, I rearranged the tracklist so that "How I Met Your Mother" opens the album, "Can You Feel That" takes the place of "Like I Do" and "This Is Happening" is the closer.
No worries! I think another reason I’m not a huge fan of “Nothing At All” is I’ve never really thought their sound translates very well acoustically. Not sure if it’s Adam’s voice or what, but I prefer their ‘full band’ sound so much more.
Yeah I don't really come back to S/T much either. El Paso is okay, but when you have songs like "Money" and "Since You're Gone" on there, it kinda sours the listening experience haha
I need shock therapy to remove "Money" from my memory. I don't even think that's being over dramatic.
top five for me would be brooklyn death wolf it takes more my blue heaven little devotional wow that was very difficult. shouts out also to "best places" and "everything must go" and "better homes"
Overall I feel like it's one of the weaker ones as a whole, but man does it have some great tracks like El Paso, Best Places to Be a Mom and Call Me in the Morning. I'm glad it exists in their discography even if I only go back to certain songs. I feel like they really found their footing with Happiness Is and Tidal Wave though.
