Yep yep Swing and Lonely, Lonely and Catholic Knees are super great, aggressive, heavier songs for the band. CK has a bridge out of a fucking Glassjaw song and the other two are super dark and just well constructed. Summer, Man is like the best straight up rock song they ever wrote. Carpathias got some great funk to it, and Where My Mouth Is has some great textures and is a nice curveball in the record. New Again and Cut Me Up Jenny have some nice jazzy riffs and just a great bounce to them, and Capital M-E might be the most acidic song the bands ever written. Honestly NA reminds me a lot of WYWTB and I think that's what makes me love it so much
Those are big words. This band kinda lost me around Louder Now, I've liked a few tracks since then but barely listened to Happiness Is - should I pick back up?
We share the same views on their back catalog. I wasn't hoping for much from this, but now I'm hyped!
Drew says almost everything is good, so I'll take his analysis with a grain of salt. However, the artwork / vibe that it gave off and the single made me very excited for this album and I'm ready to hear it.
Because of the reunion, I had wild expectations for S/T but it was a huge, huge letdown for me. Easily my least favorite record by them. Only songs I ever really go back to are Mom, This is All Now and Call Me in the Morning.
It's just all over the place musically, but I love records like that, because of the experimentation. And those demos they released along with the album were good as well IMO. TBS is a top 5 band for me personally, so I might be a bit biased, but I really don't love New Again and love the others, but it still has some great songs.
Cut Me Up Jenny starts off as a really interesting song, and then gets super super awful. Easily their worst song. Drew's getting me hyped for this new record though.
yeah ive always really liked this chorus, plus it contributes to the gun theme touched on here and there throughout NA Just gave NA two spins and yeah, it feels like WYWTB part 2 in a lot of ways. Which means its pretty much golden.
I think this is going to be my favorite TBS record. Total speculation of course, just have a feeling.
