I do think the bridge for YCLB drags a bit and probably could have been cut down, but overall I really like it.
I think the only other remarkable things about it are how much the vocal melody at the beginning sounds like Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer" and how it sounds like Adam is singing "I'm gonna get you if you text me all night long".
Oh man I love that though, on my TBS mix I have it as the final song since it has that awesome build up. I wouldn't cut anything from it
This is why I don't spend much time in TBS threads - they're a band whose fans dislike half their output. Which is fine! But I get all mother hen-y and want to fight everyone whose opinion doesn't line up with mine and that isn't healthy. But wait! Someone ranked their albums and now I have to also, per the laws that dictate my dumb brain. So here goes mine: Tidal Wave Louder Now Happiness Is Where You Want to Be Self-Titled New Again Tell All Your Friends
I agree. I really love TAYF - I bought it when I was 18. It was a 'changed the way I looked at music' record that was part of my psyche as I became an independent human person and not a child. It's wonderful and great! Nothing but love for it! But at 34, it's just at the bottom of the list for me. Which isn't an insult! It's just where I am now.
tidal wave and happiness is are their best records imo. i get why ppl feel otherwise but... idk they’re on a late career streak, i love late career streaks
This is why I like TBS threads haha. It makes for more interesting conversation. As long as it stays civil, of course.
FUCK OFF WITH YOUR SHITTY YOU CANT LOOK BACK TAKES ITS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS THEYVE EVER WRITTEN FUCK.
I take it all back. I now hate You Can't Look Back and I think it sounds like Nickelback and Hinder had a baby.
New again? Idk why. Maybe bc it came out too close To in shallow seas we sail and that’s all I listened to then.
Yeah haha...I just remember listening to it but being enraptured by Emery haha. Your comment just brought me back to a very specific time in my life I haven’t thought about for a while
I already said this like 3 days ago but WYWTB and HI are the clear top 2 for me. WYWTB is a brilliant classic and HI had the perfect amount of the more aggressive, really driving rock sound I wanted out of them. I said this the other day as well but I put their discog against up against anyone else’s. Even tho each record has a stinker or two they put out really cohesive, clear-direction records.
