I listened to "Lua" once because a girl I liked was into Bright Eyes and told me to listen to that song. Have not listened to a single other thing he's done lol
I agree with that, however he has a ton of fans so I expected it the same way I'd expect any veteran band/artist to show up on a lot of EOTY lists still
Have you been to his shows? They're packed with people who still want to hear "Lover I Don't Have To Love"
I like the whole thing a lot but I go back to death wolf, you can't look back, and call come running the most. the title track has also surprisingly grown to be one of my favorites as well
I listen to "Holy Water" all the time. I love that song so much. It reminds me a lot of "One-Eighty By Summer", which is by far my favorite TBS track.
If you had asked me before I would have said I wasn't super excited about a totally striped down album from Conor Oberst, but I love the new album.
Love the bass melody on the bridge of "Call Come Running". I couldn't find any studio version of it on youtube.
Maybe it's just me, but I really and truly feel like TBS has done something super rare - their best albums are their sixth and seventh. I don't know how many bands manage to do that, but it really seems like with both Happiness Is and Tidal Wave, the band has put out their best work. And I'm not even sure in my mind it's close. The day I listened to Tidal Wave, I was blown away. And in the time since, I've only learned to love it more.
Tidal Wave is their third or second best. I don't think they will ever top Where You Want To Be but that is OKAY
Yeah, I just don't see what Happiness Is does for people. It's the only TBS record I listen to and just don't enjoy. Aside from Flicker Fade and Better Homes, it just doesn't really have much to offer for me I guess. Tidal Wave was such a step up. Massive step up. Since reuniting, it was always specific songs were cool, but full albums lacked. Tidal Wave is the closest thing to a full TBS album, I guess.
they dont have any friends, better homes and gardens, and we were younger then all have this similar feeling to me and are the main reasons why i put HI first; those songs are fantasic. My only problem with Tidal Wave is i think several songs are dragged down by their choruses. I think Fences is the biggest offender, but its still one of my top 2-3 songs on that album.
