Yeah who knows. Either way, it's relatively similar with Jimmy winning. I'd also argue the Jimmy album is way better, even though I dig Tidal

 

Actually, it looks like the link didn't have SPS (sales plus streaming) just sales numbers

TBS - 8520 Sales
JEW - 12k-14k Sales

TBS - 9672 SPS
JEW - unknown SPS

 

yeah thats what the problem was, so its prob over 15k. kind of a significant gap but i still thought jew would do better

 

yeah definitely a difference. Would be curious to get a rundown of all bands of the "scene" that released new albums this year, see comparative sales for them. TBS, JEW, Yellowcard, Sum 41, Say Anthing (doesn't really count, maybe), Thrice, Relient K.... probably missing a few too

 

id guess thrice did the best, i know they got 21 or 22k

 

Adam's voice reminds me at times of the dude from everclear

 

I can see that. Art is a nice guy, he gave me backstage passes 2 years in a row. I just wish ev er clear wasn't the same riff every song.

 

Oh that's cool as hell. Yeah I like the couple songs I know by them, but I've never made it through the full afterglow album. Maybe I'll try again soon tho

 

He hires new bandmates like I change socks, and a few years ago they released something kinda poppy, kinda everclear...then changed members and released an album this year or last year that tries to be heroin girl / early everclear, harder.


Drama King is my favorite everclear song, art and I will never agree on that lol.

I took a couple weeks break from it after listening to it all the time for a while. I revisited it the other day, and it cements that I really actually love it. It wasn't just me being excited for new TBS, it's actually a great album. Really beautiful soundtrack to the fall weather.

 

I used to love TBS but can't get into their new stuff at all.
It's like they're still doing the same kind of music but... worse? I don't know what happened.

 

It's weird how people can hear two completely different things. S/T, Happiness Is, and Tidal Wave sound absolutely nothing to me like TAYF and WYWTB. Even Louder Now and New Again are drastically different imo.

 

Yeah this is going to be a great fall album for me I think.

 

The last three to four albums really aren't drastically different. Though the reason this is way better than happiness is is because there's actual variation throughout the album. happiness is just plods along on one note the whole time

like it practically shifts moods from song to song, which isn't really the case with tidal wave

 

I miss when Adam sounded like Ari Katz instead of sounding like... I don't know, whatever he's trying to make his voice do now
