Was those demos the ones that had that untitled song that didn't make the album? I thought it was awesome. Only line I remember was "gallery room my job is done here." Or something it's been a LONG time I don't recall the lyrics
I really wish this tour was coming to Denver. Also I got my copy in the mail today, I somehow didn't realize how few lyrics "Homecoming" has until I opened the booklet haha.
An Interview With Taking Back Sunday: Taking Back Sunday Can’t (And Won’t) Look Back Pretty good read
"I wish everybody thought like you". I think Adam was surprised to see someone who totally understands how they've transitioned and how they are just a rock band now haha.
Annotated ranking 1 - Self titled - The reunion and this album got me interested in the band after previously only listening to TAYF. I listened to a video they posted on YouTube with snippets of all the songs and I was sold on it. Several Of my favorite TBS songs are on here. 2 - Where You Want To Be - The album I listen to most and everything on it is solid. 3 - Tidal Wave - It's early to say, but I really do like this album. 4 - New Again - A lot of really interesting ideas on here, dark in ways the rest of their discography isn't. The choruses to "Summer, Man", "Swing", "Catholic Knees", a great ballad in "Where My Mouth Is", and a very strong closer. There's really only one or two songs I think are less than stellar. 5 - Happiness Is - I liked it a lot but for some rreason it hadn't stuck much for me. "Better Homes And Gardens", "Like You Do", and "We Were Younger Then" is a great run. 6 - Tell All Your Friends - I would say it doesn't hold up well, but that's after listening to it gleefully 100 times. "Great Romances" is still a great song. 7 - Louder Now - Has about five really good songs, especially "My Blue Heaven", but the rest is sort of mediocre.
Tell All Your Friends reminds me of Skyrim. Everyone says it's not that good, even though they put a hundred hours into it or whatever haha.
Tell All Your Friends is also "universally praised". I hear a lot of "Of course, it's amazing... but" for both Skyrim and TAYF.
it says a lot about TBS as a band that TAYF is considered by many to be their worst album, because it's such a brilliant one, and a record that a lot of bands wish they wrote. I think people give them a lot of unnecessary shit (a lot of them in this very thread) and hopefully that will die down a bit now with this new record. after hearing TW it's like their whole discography just makes sense now, and I understand all the different places they went more. I had all but given up on them but they proved me wrong.
Favorites off TW so far: Death Wolf, The Middle of It All, Call Come Running, Holy Water. Honorable Mentions: Tidal Wave, Can't Look Back, Fences, All Excess, We Don't Go In There.
A couple weeks later and I'm enjoying this album more than any album since Louder Now. Might be just because I have plenty of time to sit and actually listen to music now, but this is a very solid album. Only song I regularly skip is I Felt It Too. That one just doesn't go anywhere.
I really loved the album live. Adam actually sounded good singing those songs in his range... 180 by summer is real rough for him these days it's just too damn high
Great performance there. Harmonies were great. Love when "Homecoming" goes back to the "If I live..." part at the end.
