Tell All Your Friends is their worst album imo. Even though I listened to it every single day, sometimes multiple times a day, for a year before I even got into their other albums.

I would have LOVED to see Tidal Wave front to back, because I really love the album, but I gotta admit, the band is threatening career suicide (I know that sounds extreme but I didn't have another word for it) over this tour I think. I'm sure they are alienating a lot of fans in smaller venues they aren't even selling out. It's not like Tidal Wave is tearing up the charts or crossing over into the mainstream. If that was the case, then yeah, I'd get it playing front to back...but I'm betting half the people who go to these shows aren't even aware that TBS has a new album out. Not to mention, the tour flyer blatantly says "smaller rooms, longer sets" and they aren't playing any deep cuts and the sets aren't even that long. Last time I saw them in Cleveland (March of 2015) they played 22 songs. I think they are playing 21-22 songs on this tour. So, it's the same as all the other headlining tours. Had I been going to this show, I would have been 10x more excited to hear TW front to back, then the second set which consists of songs I've seen live a dozen times.

Pretty much everything I've read online has said that the reaction to TW in full has been pretty poor.

Which is sad because it's a great album.

Do you guys think if they had busted out deep cuts after playing Tidal Wave in full, there would be as much backlash?

Or do what Story of the Year did when they did Page Ave tour, play the album in full but mix in other songs in between. It'd be so cool to hear the first 3 tracks from TW and then bust into some old stuff before going back to Fences and so on.

No I don't because the fact remains that the hits are what people want to see. Most of the people going are long time fans that love the first three records. Then there are some newer fans that have come along since, but they all like the older albums too. Most of the crowd wants the first three records and some HI stuff. Playing TW and then deep cuts would not do the trick because it cuts into what a lot of people are going there for in the first place. This band has never been one to really challenge their fan base from a live standpoint until now. And now might be a little too late to do that.

I think in hindsight, they should have either done TW in full or the club venues, but not both. It's a risk that doesn't have a big payoff imo. I don't listen to Pierce The Veil, but they did something similar with their new album, but they played bigger rooms. I think TBS should have announced this as a normal tour in their normal rooms, but add in that they would be swapping some songs for a few deep cuts/b-sides. That plus hits and a four or five TW songs would have done the trick. If they wanted the club route, playing the new album just did not make much sense to me, unless they expected it to catch on more than it did. Either way, I think they kind of miscalculated things with this tour.

I think Tidal Wive is probably their worst album. It's not bad but it's not great either. I'm not surprised that it's been an absolute clunker on the charts. I'd imagine that Happiness Is turnt a lot of people off this band

Posts like this make me wonder why I like it so much though. I've already listened to tidal wave more than happiness is ha

The steep decline in their popularity probably would've happened sooner if the original line-up hadn't reformed after New Again. I think the S/T was viewed by most as an improvement over NA, even if it wasn't as well received as their first few albums. The S/T was definitely a step back towards the more accessible sound of Louder Now, an attempt to retcon any progression they made on NA. Happiness Is moved away from that accessibility once again and Tidal Wave is just a progression of that sound.

Same here. I think it's their best in a long, long time.

I think TW is one of their best, but it's a hard thing to judge as far as ranking their discography because they completely changed their sound. It just so happens I like their sound from S/T on over the old stuff, but people who prefer that sound aren't going think the newer stuff is as good.

It took me a while to come around to TW, I will admit. First listen I only liked a couple songs. But now I find it high mid tier on my rankings of their albums, currently 4th place, and there's maybe only 1 song I get tempted to skip. I have come to love it. Which is something ST and HI didn't do(I like half or 3/4 of those albums).

It's easily top three behind only their first two for me. I probably like it more than WYWTB actually.

In regards to the fans who didn't know about them playing their new album in its entirety - I would probably be annoyed if I didn't know ahead of time. But on the flip side of that, I can't imagine going to see a band and not catching up with their discography beforehand ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Weird to see S/T so high, but Happiness Is and Tidal Wave dead last. Also odd to see New Again and S/T above Tell All Your Friends. To each their own, just a very surprising order

I mean, Happiness Is and Tidal Wave are the most similar in sound, so if that style isn't liked it makes sense to have those two together at the bottom.

I don't think it's weird to see their most popular album at #1. HI and TW kind of feel like companion pieces, so if you don't like one, it makes sense to not like the other. S/T is its own thing. TAYF was good when I was 16 but it has not aged well.

New Again and S/T are better albums than TAYF if you take nostalgia out of it though. :-)

    My ranking is probably this:

    1. Where You Want to Be
    2. New Again
    3. Tell All Your Friends
    4. Louder Now
    5. Tidal Wave
    6. Happiness Is
    7. Taking Back Sunday

Ranking is too hard, all I know is that Louder Now and TAYF would be the last two. Every album has it's songs, but those two don't have a Flicker Fade, Decade, Best Places, Call Me in the Morning, EMG or anything that floored me with how good it was. All and all, band has an awesome discography though.

I'd definitely disagree with that. New Again and S/T are probably my bottom two records of theirs
