Yeah in the last two days I've revisited every album and still like them all a lot. TAYF has a lot of wear, the songs don't hit me like they used to. Self titled is still very strong and possibly my favorite. Tidal Wave might be up there now though, I have to give it some more listens but there's not really a weak moment for me
Is there a difference in sound quality from the digital download burned to the physical cd in a car stereo?
Loving this has made me go back to some of their previous work that I wasn't in love with and some of it is clicking more now -- possibly because I can see what they were going for and how they got here. Still don't love everything on New Again (still a lot of filler and easily their weakest), but I enjoyed more now -- goes for some songs on self-titled and Happiness Is too.
My preorder package still didn't show up and tracking says it was delivered yesterday at noon. I'm thinking someone messed up somewhere. So who do I yell at, the USPS or merch now to fix this
Sounds like an issue with the Post Office. Perhaps they delivered it to a neighbor on accident? I sometimes get my neighbors mail on accident.
I liked this album a lot as soon as I heard it, but it's getting better and better. Goin back to what someone said about favorite bands, their consistency and longevity is scoring major points. On the cusp of top 5 all time if not there already. Also, every moment of all excess is perfect.
Possibly but it's been a full day and if that is the case said neighbor hasn't bothered to bring it to me lol
According to hitsdailydouble with 69% counted, this is 46th in album sales with 1,139. And that makes me sad as fuuuuck.
Hitsdailydouble is off ALOT, or at least they used to be. I never check that site anymore but I used to years ago and a lot of times they'd pull stuff like that then when sales were final, numbers would increase significantly. That said, I believe earlier in this thread we talked about how awful Hopeless has been this year with marketing. This album had zero buzz. Same could be said for Bayside'S new album. That debuted at 57 and was by far their lowest debut in like 10 years.
If I recall Happiness Is did 22k so I hope that number is just off alot. They usually seem pretty close to Billboard lately. At least their tour is selling well, I just want them to keep making music. Bayside and TBS are those type of bands that have that loyal following that can keep them going. Didn't know Bayside did that low. Does Hopeless just have no resources?
Yeah a ton of their tour - including shows overseas - is sold out. I have a hard time believing they've only sold 1,000 units. That seems like such a huge fall off a cliff from their last record, especially given how well this is being reviewed. Heck, it has a positive write up in Entertainment Weekly; they're doing something right.
Sounds a little messed up haha. At the same time though, marketing for this album has been real shitty from a label standpoint (I haven't seen any Hopeless ads, nothing on the radio that i've heard, no exclusive stream). If numbers are anywhere close to what Happiness Is was, it'll probably because of how much they've been touring, who they've toured with, and fanbase. If that is the case, I like it because it like the good'ol days in music.
I hope those projections are wrong. This album deserves better than that. I wonder how the first week sales would look if there would have been a push to radio
I didn't realize I had a Taking Back Sunday obsession until about a month ago. I noticed that I listened to their music every single day, enjoyed all of their albums, and could listen to pretty much any of their songs at any time. Then I finally realized that they had actually become one of my favorite bands without me knowing haha. Probably 2nd or 3rd favorite band at this point.
I think I still like Happiness Is more at the point. However, this has been steadily growing on me with each listen. I will say though, that I'm enjoying the slower songs on here a whole hell of a lot more than "Nothing At All". I just do not like that song.
Still so amazed by this album. And surprised that even all these years and the overall 'meh'-ness of self-titled and Happiness Is(aside from the select few songs on them that are good), TBS can still write an album this good. but lack of prominent john nolan vocals will always disappoint me.
I'm having the opposite problem. I find 2-4 really boring, and 5-9 is the only section of the album that does anything for me, outside of the first and last tracks. Still, not super psyched about any of this and don't really feel like I can pick a favorite so far because nothing stands out enough. Specifically "A Decade Under the Influence." The beat, the tone, and the chorus especially. It's in the same key with a nearly identical melody.
I had a dream that these guys were touring with Brand New. They did a video announcement where John said "we finally got in on a tour with Brand New. They're set is pretty complicated, so we have to go on right at seven and we have to pack our own lunch." Idk what that means, but it was funny.
I called both the post office and merch now. USPS driver is 'going to check again' and they're supposed to call me this evening if they find it or figure out what happened to it. Merch now is filing a claim and will send me another one if the USPS cannot locate the package. Only downside is I'm not sure if I was one of the first 500 who got the signed booklet, but I'll have to accept that loss and just assume I wasn't if USPS cannot find the original one
