this is weird to me as I think almost every song on happiness sounds pretty different from each other, and tidal wave is way less jarring
The feeling I get from this album (It's a good one), I haven't got this feeling from an album in a very long time. I don't know what it is, everything just seems right about this album.
I like that one. But beat up car and it takes more(mainly for that last chorus) are my go tos for that album
Whoa at how good Happiness is... going back now and listening, after listening to Tidal Wave. Seriously....Preface, FlickerFade, All The Way, Beat Up Car(that ending is classic tbs), Better Homes And Gardens(oh god..my heart), Nothing At All....all incredible tracks for this band imo.
Figures that their lyrics make sense for the first time in their career and people are bitching about them
You can lie to those white coats, But you can't lie to me There's a difference between What you want What you need
You can find the back stories and meanings very easily from following them through interviews and over the years. Not sure what you're finding super confusing. Song's like "Better Homes and Gardens" are especially easy to understand. Sooo if you've never been a fan of the band.....that makes sense that you like this one.....and none of their others. Anyways, I've given this more listens, probably up at around 10-15 listens now. I'd say this is a solid 6 or 7/10. Happiness is... being a solid 8/10. And Self-titled having a handful of fantastic tracks(Sad Savior, Best Places to be a mom, This is All now, El Paso, Since your gone, Call me in The Morning, and You Got Me)...even though that's the same amount of tracks I like from H.I....something about H.I felt much more cohesive as an album. So I'd say self-titled gets a 7/10.
New Again is alright too. I'm curious though, why would you expect a non fan of the band to like this one and not others?
It's weird how picky people are about lyrics, and I rarely know what people here dislike when it comes to lyrics. Anyway I haven't given full attention to lyrics on this one yet but some of what I caught I liked a lot.
best songs on HI: They Dont Have Any Friends, Better Homes and Gardens, We Were Younger Then. and i can't be convinced otherwise. best songs on TW: All Excess, Cant Look Back, and then either Fences (weak chorus) or Middle of it All (starts to feel repetitive to me)
Thought I'd stop in this thread to say that Beat Up Car is one of my overall favorite TBS songs. All Excess is currently my favorite from this one. That chorus, man.
I relistened to "Beat Up Car" to make sure I'm not crazy after seeing all the praise for it in here. But nope, it's still an atrocious song.
Beat Up Car is great. not top 10 material tho this album is so much fucking better than HI or the self titled one
