It's interesting that long time fans don't like this and I really haven't loved anything they have done since louder now and I love this record
So glad most are enjoying it. Such an unexpectedly fantastic record. I know this album will be on repeat for a long, long time (for me). Hopefully this album is the revival that leads them to spit out another high quality album or two after it.
I think this record has a total Where You Want to Be vibe. Maybe it's just me. I don't think it's such a change in sound, I guess is what I'm trying to say. I feel like every song here has an older brother or sister on another album.
TAYF is my favorite album from them and I still think it's a good album on first listen. But you guys are right on the vocals for the chorus of Holy Water.
I hear Decade in a lot of songs on this record. Call Come Running is like a baby of A Decade Under the Influence, New Again, and You Got Me.
Haven't listened to this yet but Tidal Wave is a solid fun track and Death Wolf is amazing, one of my favorite TBS songs ever, so I think I'll enjoy this
Wow, this record is fantastic. Is there a review going up on Chorus? I wrote a little bit about it while I was bored at work if anyone cares to read. Taking Back Sunday’s road trip taking, campfire drinking Tidal Wave releases Sept. 16.
The album itself is really good, dont get me wrong, but I really cant get over "I Felt It Too" and how absolutely stunning that song is. Just such a well made, brilliant piece of songwriting. That bridge is absolutely beautiful. I know theyre easy to bash and make fun of, but this band showcases a lot of talent and songwriting prowess on this record. I love it.
Holy mother of wow. "All Excess" is such a fun song. What a jam. I don't think they've made a song that sounds like that one before. I guess I kind of hear a tiny smidgen of "Sleep" in there, but that's it. Also, "I'll Find a Way to Make it What You Want" is giving me huge "It's For The Best" by Straylight Run vibes, specifically the piano progression. The very end of "It's For the Best" has a similar reversed piano progression. I'm excited to finally be able to buy the record tomorrow, too.
everyones talking about adam's voice in holy water and all i can think about is how it sounds like little devotional
Gave it one listen through earlier, and first impression was good. Gonna buy it tomorrow and give it another listen. Early favorite is We Don't Go In There
I don't want to alarm anyone, but I think this is TBS's best work. It flows perfectly, the music is mature, the vocals are the best they've been in ages, and it just feels fantastic. This record is an absolute monster.
At first I thought "I felt dirty and I didn't know why" was such a clunky, embarrassing line of lyrics, but given the context of the album and the themes being touched upon, I think it's a line that actually sticks in your head, works and kind of, in a way, defines the album.
'Fences' into 'All Excess' into 'I Felt it Too' is just a brilliant stretch of music. Those may be three of the best 10 songs they've ever written, and they're back to back to back. I'm serious. This - at 32 - makes me feel like TAYF did at 18 or WYWTB did at 20. This is the TBS I fell in love with. I just can't say enough good about this freaking record.
I wasn't a fan of Tidal Wave or You Can't Go Back, so my expectations were low. But I'm finishing up my first listen and I'm pleasantly surprised. The single choices were terrible, but this is soo much better than self titled and Happiness Is.
Im loving the album. I do think that Holy Water is ruined by poor production. Live videos make that song looks huge. Album version sounds overly compressed to me. All in all a very good album after 2 spins. Now i need to find some time to fit a few spins of Against Me! Today which ialso have high hopes for after the 3 singles and their brilliant last album. Sorry Touche Amore, you'll have to wait.
This album is really good. They've added so much more diversity between songs, but everything flows nice, and even though it's uncovered ground, they sound really comfortable (in a good way).
Agreed about that three song stretch, exactly what I came in to say. Just finished my first listen and wasn't prepared for how much I loved this. The rest of the album all gets even better after the first three songs. Just beautiful. We Don't Go In There was probably my favorite first listen. Hard to pick one though haha.
Listening through on Spotify. Is Adam talking live at the start seriously on the album version of the title track!? Awful idea.
Super glad I never really listened to any of the singles. This is the first album in a while that's totally shocked me.
