    what is the vibe?

A lot of "baby" on this album.

Haven't listened, but even if Tidal Wave sounds nothing like the rest of the tracks it is still a fast, fun song. As a single released in the summer, why wouldn't you put that one out? I can think of a lot of bands whose singles are different from the album. Thrice is ringing a bell with almost every album.

I don't think anyone ever has said a single should be a representation of the rest of the album. In fact, sometimes the very opposite. In most cases, a label or band will choose a single that they think has a shot of becoming the most mainstream song to be successful. Let's face it, Tidal Wave is a safe, fun pop record. Nothing more. Probably why they picked it.

Other's obviously may not like it, but to say it is "horrible" is a stretch, so you're probably right.

i for one like that it's this short sharp pop song about the inevitability of death

I really like this. I wasn't expecting to - but hot damn. "Homecoming" is my standout on first listen. Probably because I used to live in Jacksonville.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

It's nice to hear that the first three songs aren't the best on the album. I'll give it a shot tomorrow on my way in to work.

Lol what do you mean the last 5 have been 11 tracks. Technically TAYF is 11 tracks counting Your Own Disaster

Not horrible but doesn't fit at all

  17. pleasantly surprised. this is their best album since the original lineup reunited. i'd have to listen to it again, but i think i liked every song on here. it's been a loooong time since i've said that about a TBS album. even if there are songs i like more than others, i wouldn't say there's a "bad" song on here, which can't be said for their last few albums.

The official tracklisting of TAYF is 10 "Head Club" is the closer, "Your Own Disaster" is a B-side that only appeared on TAYF in the re-issue.

But yes other than their debut and Tidal Wave their official track listings have been 11.

lately it's been getting late, but i'm not tired

this is just one more argument for why the ballad of sal should have actually been on tayf

  20. my copy didn't even have your own disaster, it had ballad of sal

Yes, I know the official track listing lol. Just saying most vinyl copies and even the band themselves have put either Ballad of Sal or YOD somewhere in that track listing making it 11.

I remember reading somewhere that Adam liked the 11 track idea, something about it being the perfect length for a record or something like that

the perfect length for a record is there is no perfect length for a record

I'd still just keep it unchanged but If I did have to add a 11th track from that era to that album it would be "your own disaster" and I love "the ballad of sal Villanueva"

The perfect length is a double album and an extra dvd disc that contains a live show, interviews and music videos.
