Wondering if the move to Friday release dates is the reasoning for fewer albums leaking early these days. I'm hoping to get my hands on this album soon enough since I'm going to the first (I guess 2nd now) show of the tour the day after the official release date and would like some more time to get familiar with the new songs first. Very excited for "Death Wolf" on title alone but the positivity around it makes me more excited, as well as the studio version of "Holy Water".
still love the new song a lot. up there with better homes and this is all now for best post-reunion song.
At the risk of building this up I am super excited for this. Said it a million times but loved Happiness. It feels like this band has finally got over the reunion hype and is moving on just doing their own thing which I think seeps through the music. All The Way is probably one of the best songs they have written in my opinion.
Also. Just checked out Holy Water. That song sounds great live. Even with phone camera shots. It's got a really cool Cameron Crowe soundtrack vibe to it.
I definitely like the direction they went with Happiness Is and the direction it seems like they're going with Tidal Waves. I agree that it feels like they finally got over that reunion hump and got back to being a band with a sound that really fits them. Also, All The Way is a fantastic song and I've really been singing You Can't Look Back.
if they take the chance of not streaming it, then I really hope (for their sake) it doesn't leak before release day. I would be lying if I said I didn't want a stream tho
Read two reviews for this so far and both panned it pretty hard. I usually end up loving albums/movies when critics hate them. "Death Wolf" seems to be the only real positive from one reviewer.
Normally I wait to read reviews until after I've given an album a few spins, but this thread has me too hyped so I might need to read some negative reviews just to temper my expectations haha.
ALBUM REVIEW: ‘Tidal Wave’ by Taking Back Sunday Album Review: Tidal Wave by Taking Back Sunday I don't think either review is very well written which means I usually just ignore them.
For once I actually want an album to stream, normally I try and hold out for the vinyl to show up, but I'll be out of town for this release, and seeing that I'll be in Chicago for the record release I'd like to hear the album at least once.
hmmmm.... well, I hated that first review. at least the second one was short & sweet reading the descriptions of the songs almost makes me not even want to listen to them. I knew I shouldn't have read those
both of these reviews felt like.. Idk they were really close minded? idk Ian Cohen said it was good and I pretty much always agree with him haha
I've only heard enthusiasm about this record, especially from people who haven't cared for the last few records
i trust your opinion. you like good shit. so if you say it's good then I have faith. just shook my confidence a bit to see them talking about aimless passages and experimentation gone wrong. are you still gonna review it? if you do, link it in here. would love to read
I would be disappointed if this is bad only bc i thought I would hate it then all of my favorite writers started hyping it and then I got excited
