Giving Forward Monday Fred - Lead Vocals, guitar Matt Fazzi - Back-up Vocals, Guitar Eddie - Guitar Matt Rubano - Bass No dummer
one of their best and it's not even their song. i bought this song as a single on itunes just to have it.
never got the fazzi hype/love, personally. he was around for one album and its one of their worst. I don’t really think he added anything special to NA.
They definitely didn't let him shine on NA. But I definitely recommend listening to his old band, Happy Body Slow Brain. I love their album.
I hear his influence all over NA, instrumentally. His chord voicing and progressions add a lot to that record, despite his minimal presence with backing vocals. also, yeah, Facing New York and HBSB/Rare Futures are great.
Fazzi is great though if you dig into his discography outside of TBS. His band Rare Futures/Happy Body Slow Mind has some fantastic music, and he was in A Great Big Pile Of Leaves for a little while so extra points there.
I think my biggest problem and dissapointment with the John and Shaun reuinion is that John is not prominent at all. Like at all. Not on records and not even live. I love tayf for the double vocals and dynamic. I hade no problem with them leaving cause wywtb is such a banger. Fred and Adam is ace together. I find louder now quite boring and new again is just like some random rock record. Barely any double vocals. Got som pumped up for some screaming Nolan when they came back but I feel he's barely heard on any of the three new albums.
i can't stand the "double vocals or bust" position. it doesn't matter that two people aren't trading lines all of the time anymore. john's voice is very obviously audible in the songwriting
was also worth Nolan coming back for the bridge in "This is All Now" alone honestly REPEEEEEENT, REPEEEEEENT
Counterpoint vocals is literally the reason why I loved this band when I started listening, so it'll always be a bummer to me that they did away with it - and Adam even making fun of WYWTB, saying it was unnecessary on most of that album I was obsessed with TBS and Mayday Parade in middle school/high school for it
