Pretty hard deflection on the Pete Wentz subject haha that aside, some of those questions are weird. Especially the ones about John and whether or not he’s an egomaniac or “emo heartthrob”.
He was still pretty into drugs around Louder Now, so I would think after that ... but he also looks skinnier in those pictures than he did around Louder Now. So I'm stumped.
Yikes...that was a really cringy interview to read. Being a fan of Taking Back Sunday now is so different than being a fan of TBS in the Louder Now era. I didn't really get into them before that, but it seems now when I go to shows, it's overwhelmingly the fanbase from the first two albums. I mean, everyone in the crowd knows all the Louder Now songs but the crowds always seem to skew older than I expect. It's just fascinating to me that they're a band where people know all the old songs, but the new songs fall flat. But you go to a Fall Out Boy show, and everyone knows the new songs but nobody knows the old songs.
Agreed. I may be biased because I'm a super TBS fan and I think they are 7/7 on albums, but Happiness Is and Tidal Wave are fantastic albums.
The last album I enjoyed was the reunion album and even that wasn’t great Tidal Wave is easily my least favorite album by them. Happiness is meh outside of like 3 songs
I still can't get through a full listen of Tidal Wave Every now and then I'l try, but it's just not for me. Honestly just not interested in TBS anymore. Glad others can enjoy, though! Clearly I should probably just unsubscribe from this thread, haha.
Just listened through Tidal Wave again for the first time in a while, and it holds up super well. Every song is quality imo.
That's a pretty hard comparison to make. The scene isn't nearly as big as it was when WWYTB or LN were released. Those albums sold hundreds of thousands of copies and TBS played on loop on MTV and Fuse
Tidal Wave and New Again are among their best albums, s/t is also really really good. And Louder Now is their worst.
Very true, same can be said about Yellowcard, Sum 41, Story of the Year, ect. All made way better albums after the music scene changed to where this kind of music isn't top 40 anymore.
I'm probably a weird TBS fan. I only go back to Where You Want to Be, New Again, Happiness Is..., and Tidal Wave. I'm not even sure what draws me into WYWTB, but I like it a lot. I can't stomach listening to TAYF, Louder Now, or Self-Titled. I went to the TAYF10 shows and it was fine, but after that cycle I was pretty much done with that record.
