Is there a reason for this? TBS Cover album? Weezer covers album? Just for fun? Either way it's pretty straight forward but I like the added heaviness.

    Aaaachem!

The music is so similar you could’ve told me it was Adam recording over a karaoke backing track and I’d believe it

its fine. i love a good cover, but i like when bands put more of their own spin on covers. this was actually my main issue with the weezer covers album too

For real. People were all "Weezer's cover of Africa is soooo good!" and I'm over here like "Can I introduce you to Reliant K?"

If you have to ask, you can't afford it

Check out Quietdrive's version it's fantastic

Not gonna lie, I really like this cover haha. Adam sounds good and the guitars sound huge.

Of Africa? Will look for it. I'm intimately familiar with their Time After Time cover so I know they have some chops

    what makes it really bad?

Why is is really bad for you?

It's well done. Production sounds great. instruments are on point. It's just not original and therefore a bit on the boring side. But that doesn't make it "really bad" in my opinion.

  12. The direct imitation aspect of it is definitely the chief reason I find it bad haha

I don't have a problem with the band honing a fun cover on tour and then laying it down for a quick streaming buck, but it's as if they actively avoided bringing anything creative to it at all. The exception is maybe Adam's vocal style choices, which I personally dislike pretty hard on this.

For me, executing the track well from a technical standpoint is kind of a baseline requirement for a band this big.
